Nyk--whatever light you choose, use the covers! The previous owner had some Hellas on his Manik Tactical brushing device. I left 'em in place, without covers (he didn't include any). I live in Vegas, and do a fair bit of dirt road travel to the shooting area, and even from that limited use, ended up with one busted lamp, another one with a nice rock crack.

Can the glass be replaced? it looks like it unscrews.

I just moved my Hella rally 4000's to my 80. I've been running them on my FJ40 for the past 3 years. They are awesome lights in my opinion. I've heard good things about the IPF's too but I don't have any experience with them.

These Hella's are big and put out TONS of light. Mine are the Euro-beams. They're kinda pricey but I was lucky enough to score them at the Cruise Moab raffle. :)

Here they are mounted on my modified ARB bumper.

This is what prompted me to move them to the 80. This one didn't survive the trip through Upper Helldorado. Fortunately it was only the lens. What made matters worse is the following night, a buddy backed into me while we were running Lower Helldorado and broke the lens on the other one. :(

So, two replacement lenses later and being moved to a truck that doesn't see quite as much "action" I think they're good to go for a while. :)

Ya, I'm defintley using the rock guards or covers with whatever light I choose. I'm thinking either the PIAA foglights or the lightforce...

I've used the Hella 3000s on the Cruiser for 11 years now and no issues. I've also had the 4000s on another vehicle for 4 years. Great lights, excellent out put and great durability. They also put out some cheap dimestore Hellas for the mass marketers (500s are a perfect example) to stay away from.

If you end up with the 4000 Eurobeam, I've got a spare I'll sell you (lense/reflector ass'y). If you want, I'll also cover it with 3M's latest light protection film before sending it since I own a business that does this. For any of you others with round lights, I'll provide these for you to install at a good rate. PM me for any information on light protection.
