Best LC for a big dog? 80 or 100 series?

Background: The GF just put down a deposit on a Bernese Mountain dog puppy. And she requested a male, which are larger than the females. These things get huge (150 lbs +) and I know my greyhound isn't going to want to share the back of the FJ62 with it. We're supposed to get it mid-summer ...

On the plus side, this might be a good opportunity to get another LC in the stable. I know the thing won't fit in her Jetta and she's open to getting something else, a good condition used vehicle. Just not a FJ40...

My question to you guys who have a few Toyotas in their driveways: which has the best cargo capacity for a bear-shaped dog? An 80 series or a 100? Or a 4runner? We'd put a cargo barrier in whichever she gets to keep it in place, and it wouldn't be allowed in the back seat. This vehicle won't be taken offroad a whole lot by her but she does like LC's after hearing me preach about them for the last two years. :)

I thought 60's had the most room in da back?

My dogs are both big and I'd have to say the 80 is their favorite because of the rear sliding windows. They both get a their own portal through which to view the world!!

My Rot practically lived in the back of my 40. Fold up the jump seats with the rubber mat. It worked well but you said no 40.

That's a good point about the sliding rear window.... I forgot about that. She definitely likes the look of an 80 series better, as well.

The 62 has plenty of room in the back but I know my dog won't share it. I feel bad enough making him have to share the house with a giant Berner.

I have a lab and a doberman--they both have their own window. Make sure you remember to attach the leash to the tie down hooks--one day we were at the light and the truck next to us had a cat....and my lab was out the window before I could do anything:eek: My vote is for an 80:)

The 80's got the slider windows :). I can fit 2 60-70lb ridgebacks and my buddies lab back there w/no problem, should be OK with your dog(s). I wouldn't worry about the room so much, either will suffice and are fairly close. Let other factors decide for you, budget, sliding windows, creature comforts, etc.

I dunno, our Dane likes riding in the Jetta more than she does the Cruiser, or the Volvo wagon. I think it has to do with the fact that she rolls around too much on the floor of the wagons.

Then again, our dog is strange.
