Look, my point is that a key, in the center console, in a locked vehicle, is of no use whatsoever to you. That makes it just as pointless as a key in the gascap, or a key under the hood, both of which are inaccessible to you if the vehicle is locked, right?

I'm not recommending a course of action.

Frankly, I don't know how to clarify this much more than I have.

My key is not in the center console (i am not that stupid, the console doesn't have a lock ), its in the glove box and I keep that locked.

Daymn guys... Some replies in this thread are so odd that either some of you have a really tricky sense of humor or are terminally naive.

Lexus made suck a key and its shape suggests to keep it in your wallet. I always have my wallet with me, in my pocket, so no need to tape stuff to the vehicle.

auto security for most vehicles is simply about not making it a target, and not making it too easy. In fact, the same applies to home security. You just have to make your house look a little more difficult than the ones around you, and that will work 99% of the time.

Heh. I used to park in a commuter lot with a friend who drove a new Navigator. He worried about it's safety, I told him my strategy is park close to him, nobody will bother my truck!

Home security is also more mind-game than fortress. I've picked a few locks, recently had to make a lock pick and open a door here at work. Everyone was amazed and suspicious, but it's really simple.

Good question.. i dont know on the Lexus part. I don't see why not though.. it's not like it's the ignition key that needs a big fat chip in it or anything.

I hung one on the wires behind the rear side marker light, I figure I can always get a screwdriver somewhere. while on the subject of being locked out, has anyone else seen this thing on the net, supposedly if someone at home has another remote(to your rig) they can open it over the cell phone.

I just called my AAA branch office in St. Paul and they never heard of the credit card size/style key. It might depend on what region you're in as to whether they cut these keys for members.

The fancy credit card key from Lexus that came in my vehicle was for a different vehicle... It must have gotten mixed up at some time.
