What the best FJ62 highway mileage that you've seen? I took a short road trip today that was all highway except for about 12 miles across town. Topped it off before I left and topped it off when I got back at the same place. 133 miles 7.24 gallons 18.3 mpg:bounce:. I couldn't even tell you about the state of the tune. The valves are noisy, and I haven't even changed the plugs. This was running about 67-70 mph. Was this a fluke today? What do you think? thx matt

Nice going, man!

Last time I checked mine, on a similar length trip, I got a bit over 17 mpg, if I recall it right.

:)

Got just over 17 running to LA and back (800 miles). That's stock everything though. Actually it ran great and the week after I got back, it popped the galley plug in the driveway.

Around town though, it's pretty pathetic. Mayybe 10-12. I'm afraid to measure it.

Pretty regularly get 19+ in the Summer, more like 15 in the Winter.

Dang...I'm between 10-12 always unless I heading through a pass then I'm around 8-10.

I topped 19mpg on the Evanston, WY to Ogden, UT leg of a trip (all downhill) a long time ago. Lately, she gets about 11mpg around town and maybe 14 on the highway.

I get just south of 9 mpg regardless of how light footed I drive, now I'm really depressed:crybaby:

Wow Great mileage guys! (for 20 year old trucks) I think the best I've got is around 15-17 mpg on the maiden voyage home from Indiana. What size tires are people running? I just picked up a new set of BFG ATs 33x12.5x15 and am thinking I should go with a 10.5 wide tire.

What RPMs does the 3FE like to cruise at for these 19 mpg runs??

I'm only getting around 10-11 mpg around town.

235/75R15s :hillbilly: I think it is vehicle speed/wind drag more than engine speed that plays into consumption. Slowing from 75 to 65 makes a big difference.

I run 235/75R15 too, Nokian Vatiiva A/T's that are not aggressive at all which is why I think my 62 does pretty well. Plus our speed limits in AK are 55 or 65 on the highway. I just switched to syn oil in the transfer and rear dif, am hoping that will boost the winter mileage a bit. I think I am at about 2700 rpm at 75mph.

The best I ever did was 13.5 on the highway with my 62 but speed limits here are 75 on the interstates. I have noticed though there is a huge differance in gas mileage of all my cars depending on the fuel blend. In the Phoenix area all the fuel has ethanol. When I fuel up out of town I instantly get 10-15% better fuel economy in my honda civic, my chevy 2500hd and the cruiser with the v8.
