I haven't been able to find what tire is the best of both worlds. I'm looking for a 37" radial tire that is both relatively quiet on the road while having great offroad capability. Also, where should I buy them?

Thanks!

Go to www.tirerack.com, and read the reviews.

I run GY MTRs on my Cruiser, and Michelin Cross Terrains on my Expedition. I really like them both, but neither of them is a compromise tire.

i have 33x12.5x15 BFG M/Ts and they do make a little noise on the highway. My next tires will be either 35 or 37/12.5/16 Interco TrXus MTs. I have heard good things about them, and they are sipped for ice/snow.

Goodyear MTR's are a decent tire, but they're not a mud tire.

They are great all-around off road tires for my uses. I particularly like the tougher side walls. I drvie in some mud, but do a lot of work on rocky trails. No sidewall cuts to date.

They are not as bad as some tires on the road, but they sure as Hell are not silent like the Michelins, which are tremendous bad weather road tires, and can handle some off raod stuff in a pinch. They are siped.

You can't have both, if that tire existed everyone would run it. Figure out how much off-roading you do and choose an appropriate tire. I use A/Ts here because they're great in snow/ice and I don't spend much time mudding. You cannot mud without a dedicated mud tire, you'll get nice brown doughnuts. Mud tires are also typically the worst on road and in ice/snow. Give some to get some.

One overlooked option is to use snowchains when in mud. They can be installed on nearly any tire. Don't get the cable "chains" get real chains like the ones used on snowplows.

I consider the BFG Mud T/A and similiar tires (Kuhmo Mud Venture, Dunlop Mud Rover, Maxxis Buckshot Mudder) good all terrains. But I am not sure if any of those other then the BFG come in bigger then 35X12.50

After that I would look at the Interco Trxus as mentioned by VT Cruiser.

I've heard of the Interco Trxus's before. I'll research that more. I want to get some tires that will compliment the truck in terms of size, and I admit that I do more street than mud. I think that some fairly quiet tires combined with chains for mud is the way to go. Time for more reading!!

ive got the trxuss mts on the 80, it does well in mud, relatively quiet. on solid ice they get squirrely, but i take that as a sign not to speed up :)

id probably get them again, just not in 31's :D

I liked my Trxus's but they are heavy and man do they get loud as they got old! I am going At's next as I don't get off road as much as I use to cause of work.

Heaviness dosen't matter to me that much. Besides, it's not like we race these things. I just want a tire that is awesome offroad and good on the street.
