Belton or OME?

Beltons springs are made by Dobinsons in Qld [Aus] and the panhard rods etc work well, and I havent managed to break one yet, run them on my truck, shocks are as good as any other shock in that $ on the market, inc OME.

We are a dist of Belton products also.

If you dont want lots of lift, and a very nice ride, Bilstien velocity controlled shocks are very hard to beat.

where do i buy them in the usa? can i buy from can. and have shipped to the usa?

Peter, are you clairvoyant?
Cheers,
Sean

I have the OME medium front and heavy rear. I love it. The truck handles like a dream. Washboard is nothing, obstacles are nothing, although I dont use it much here, articulation is wonderful. Even the rear doesnt feel stiff with the extra spring rate. I plan on putting a rear bumper/tire carrier back there, and dont expect to feel a change in the ride.

all that i see on slee's sight is ome and custom in house panhard rods. but thanks

Ductape, just about 95% of people on this board use OME. You might get the lift you are looking for from the stock OME lift, and I would not be afraid of the medium lift which is what I have. What you might consider is buying ome coils (or beltons) but another brand of shocks.

OME rides well on the pavement and is good offroad for short distances or slow stop and start offroading. Since you live in the Yukon you should know that my experience has been that OME shocks do not handle long drives on washboards/potholes on BC FSR quality logging roads at 25 mph plus very well. They heat up after half a day or less then ride like a roller skate and they do not recover for a couple of days. I am going to change the OME shocks as soon as I attend to a couple of other issues. Two shock options to consider are bilsteins or koni. There is a FAQ write up on those shock options. I suspect the Bilsteins would work well for you and they are cheaper than OME if you mail order. There are a couple of write ups here from folks who really like the Bilsteins and feel they hold up to long washboard roads better than OME.

I would reconsider your tire size as well and go with something wider to spread out the 80's weight, but that is up to you.

I will look at the Bilsteins, as I heard good comments about them in other forums for VW syncros. As for tire size, I am still debating between 235 and 255...

but I would still like to get some more info on availability and pricing for the belton kit.

why so narrow?

because I like the tall and narrow look. The stock tires on my troopie were 215... THAT is narrow. I will probably go with the 255.
