Hopefully this weekend I'll be tearing into this beauty. It's an old belleview winch model 5687. It's in great shape and it runs great with no issues what so ever. Here's some pics for you guys. And for $200 it's not that bad of a deal.

I have pictures to post of the insides. Not that bad but my issue is I hooked it up to a battery and it wouldn't shut off. Is this normal or do I need to get the motor rebuilt o0r is there a secret shut off button I don't know of?

If I remember, the lever on the side controls the motor. If that is the case it is sticking.

The lever on the side of mine controls when the line is in free spool mode or pull mode. It won't do anything else for me.

I'm not home until Thur, but I think there is another lever there in the middle above the brake. I'd have to look at mine.

type 'belleview winch controls' into google images, that'll square you away.

I found out what I'm missing. The oncab controller and the mechanism tha removes the power. Gotta find those now before I hook it up.

I got one of those on a CJ7 I owned. I gave it to my B-I-L, but while I had it, I found that NAPA carries many of the parts. This was 10 years ago, but I can't imagine they don't still have them.

Well thought I'd give an update. I ordered a new control set from 4 wheel drive center and as for the brake I'm ditching it and outing on an old disk brake from a motorcycle.

mine had a simple lever in the power cord on or off ,mine only reals in and i got a new brake at the local go cart shop .i use it on our trailer to winch the 14,000 lb mega truck on if it wont run .
