After watching Spivey perform his home brewing mastery Saturday, I was inspired to start a Beer Thread. It can be a spot to discuss home brewing or just rant about your favorite beer. Also because it is hard to find good beers in MS I figured we could discuss delicious beers we have found and where.

I'll start out by giving Spivey props for his Smoked Porter home brew. It had the perfect amount of smokey flavor without being over the top like the LA 31 smoked beer.

My home brewing kit came in so I plan on getting started with a Belgian Harvest Ale after Christmas.

Real Ale Brewing--Blanco, Texas

I'll play. Tonight's beer de jour...

Shade Grown Coffee Porter

A rich, robust porter with a dry finish.
Brewed with organic fair trade coffee from Katz Coffee Roasters.
Savor the subtle coffee flavor of this irresistible ale.

And now I am jealous.

I'm settling for a Sam Adams Winter Lager. It is a good easy drinking lager with a hint of citrus and spice. I prefer their Octoberfest, but the Winter Lager is a solid seasonal. I'd give it a B.

In the words of the great James "Choctaw" Risher: "I know what I like what the hell would I try anything else for?" Everyone knows I am a German beer fan as well as Yeungling and Spotted Cow boot legger.

I like Octoberfest....that's my only problem with Sam Adams is you can only get stuff seasonally......it's frustrating

Shiner Blond

also........ I like Fat Tire....first experienced it when rock climbing in Jackson Hole which added to it's taste

Good thread Andy...prediction....with the holidays this thread will consume 80% of our time.

I wonder why Mr. Adams has to call it's winter lager a "Malted Beverage." Look on the side of the bottle. I do lurb mea malt licka doe.

Try some Terrapin rye next time you leave MS.

I like beer....I love bourbon and the only good thing from Canada. Starting on Scotch it is not bad.

What? Canada is one of the best countries I have ever been to. The women are smoking hot. If you are ever there and can eat at Joey Tomatoes, do it. Food is incredible and you will have a hard time finding any waitress less than a 9. It is unreal.

Agree 100%. My son lives in Canada, on Vancouver Island. We spend as much time there as possible. Spectacular place, and you're correct about the wimmens too. :D
