The repair project have been stacking up, so I decided to dive right in a make a weekend out of it. I was pretty excited when it was all back together so I figured I would share.

My starter was going out, so I picked up a 2.2 kW unit and replaced the contacts and plunger.

Here it is. It's hard to see, but the part number is 28100-66050. Man, what a diiference this one makes.

Next up was the radiator. I've been putting this off for too long, and I'm glad it didn't leave me stranded somewhere. I ended up going with a koyo. The fit and finish was perfect.

I also picked up a 150 amp alternator from a 2004 sequoia and used the bracket made by Bill (photoman here on MUD). Very nice stuff.

I pretty much had the whole front of the engine compartment apart, so I took the opportunity to do some cleaning. I chased most all of the bolt holes and bolts and used antisieze on the threads when I reinstalled the bolts.

The only tap/die sizes I used were 8mmx1.25 and 6mmx1.00.

I flushed out the motor really good so I wouldn't push any junk into the new radiator:

I did it in two steps:

First, removed the heater hose at the outlet of the heater valve and the hose where it connects to the metal tube running along side the head on the PS. Connect the flush tool to the hose at the outlet of the valve. This effectively isolated the front and rear heater sections. Use lower hose pressure here so you dont rupture the heater cores.

Next, connect the flush tool the the above mentioned metal tube. Make sure the upper engine to radiator hose is removed. You can use higher pressure here. I flushed until the water coming out of the upper hose ran clear, and then for a few minutes. You'll also see water coming out of the heater valve.

I then reconnected all the hoses and filled with a 50/50 mix of distilled water and toyota red coolant.

Here she is all buttoned up:

I have a couple more items to replace, but I ran out of time/energy to do them this weekend.

Odyssey 1700MJT battery and a slee headlight harness:

I still need to have my AC system recharged and all the fluids changed before the big bear trip next month.

Lots of work! Nice!!

Nice work! It always feels good to knock stuff off the PM list.

I am officially a one :banana:mechanic, but hope to get my second one here pretty soon. :D

Cool, you are getting some very nice PMs/Mods done.

Of course now I have to think about my original radiator with the stress cracked composite caps that are sure to blow any day now that I managed to put out of my mind so I could sleep at night. Now I am staring at the cieling. Thanks. :flipoff2:
