I just saw the second completely line-x/rhino lined land cruiser without a rear bumper. As a matter of fact it was an LX. I want to say hello to the person that I waved at with a mud sticker on the back window on McCommas Ave. hello.
Why do you bed liner the entire vehicle? I think it looks cool but just wondering if there is any other reason why you would do that? Cheers Dallas cruiser fans!

The only reason to bedliner an entire vehicle is to ensure you never sell it. It will have pretty much ZERO resale value to anyone other than random hardcore off-roaders. The only other reason to do it is to shave another mpg or two off your rig. Between weight and drag that's what you'll likely see happen.

Probably a deer lease vehicle... Know a bunch of guys in Dallas area that had dedicated "deer lease" rigs that were rino lined ...

Yeah, I know I probably sound a bit harsh in my hatred of bedliner on the whole car, but it's a non-reversible thing that really takes all the class out of a truck. I don't mind it on the lower part of the body (below the moulding), but you don't need it on the roof! If it's a dedicated off-roader or hunt vehicle, you shouldn't care if it gets a bit of pin striping! At least you can buff or paint over the stripes...

Cheers - that was me, nice white LC - the roof rack and led bar are pretty slick together.

I might have outlined the reason behind the bedliner somewhere else, but in case anyone's curious here's the thought process.
At about 250K, my paint was starting to severely oxidize and the clear coat was coming off. Not just on the hood, although that was where it was the worst. Both front quarter panels were getting pretty bad too. So, something had to be done. Ignore it, repaint it, or get "custom". I wasn't willing to repaint it. I also wasn't willing to ignore it. Since I actually love the look of the bedliner, I looked into it.

My truck is not a deer lease only vehicle, it's a daily driver. Incidentally, the truck is both a Dallas and a South Dakota truck, so eventually it could be relegated to ranch only duty. With a touch of OCD, I could not handle seeing oxidized paint. Had we been talking about the pinstriping that's on the LX alone, I would have been happy as is.

I'm comfortable without resale value on this truck, it has been in the family since new and is worth about 10 times more to me than someone else, even a 'mudder.

Joseywhales, I get your point - definitely not for everyone. And it is most definitely non-reversible.

As for the back bumper missing, I'm in the brainstorming stages of a minimalist back bumper. I'll be fabricating it myself as a learning process (I'm under no illusions that my DIY version will compete with Slee or ARB, but the learning experience is worth the drop in quality)

*EDIT - I haven't noticed any decrease on MPG, but I have a short drive to work and am not really worried about it. It definitely doesn't feel any heavier on the driver seat dyno

I'm with you Josey.

My repair shop was telling me about a rhino lined truck that came through. What color did you go with?

I'm not sure what the deal is with Toyota paint, mine is not peeling or anything but doesn't seem durable through the years. My ford has about same miles and age and maybe has one rock chip all the way through the paint.

Personally, I wouldn't use bedliner to paint the exterior of my truck, but I've seen it done plenty of times and I certainly don't find it offensive or classless. We did rhino line the interior of our 85 CJ7 when we had it re-painted. It's a dedicated ranch vehicle and it's easy to wash out. No worries about paint/rust etc, so I can certainly see the appeal.

Different strokes for different folks. I'm not going to paint a vehicle in camouflage either, but if it works for somebody else, more power to them.

I went with Black, same color as the original paint (kind of). I had no interest in doing the inside of the doors or other hard to get to spots. I doubt that was mine coming through the shop, unless it was firestone for my post front end refresh alignment.

No, not Firestone. There's another rhino lined 100 in the Fort Worth area.

If anybody does replay that has that rig, I'd like to see some pictures of it!

Not to hijack this thread but is there a Dallas club or meetup for 100 owners? If so, I'd be interested

I'd definitely be interested as well. I used to own an 80, but as soon as I sell my 2 BMWs, I'll be in the market for an 03+ 100.

Nice LX! if you need a hand I am not far. I have a little experience with fab work.

I do not know of a dedicated 100 series club in the dallas/ft. worth area. There are a couple of clubs for Toyota. TLCA sponsored Toyota Trail Riders is one and there is a Land Cruiser club. Meeting times are the second Thursday of the month at ~7:00pm at Poppas BBQ at loop 12 and I-35E

If you are a 100 owner you should not be concerned about MPG's. unless you run out of gas. haha

Your local TLCA Club.

Sweet. Thanks!

Hey what do you think you are doing hijacking threads!!!?? this is a very technical question that should be answered with seriousness! (said with sarcasm) haha!

For ON TOPIC discussion... does anyone have knowledge about the weight of the bedliner products? For instance how much does a 5 gallon bucket weight of the stuff weight?
