I am fairly certain they stock Chevelon with the truck still, on the damn end road. At the right time of year if you can catch the stocking, watch carefully as the little hatchery rainbows are prime bait for the large browns down there in Chevy.

Just took nine Boy Scouts to Chevelon this weekend. Camped at the end of FR 180 on the SW side (300 to 169 to 119 to 180). Not a soul on the lake until we were packing up when two other guys showed up. Caught our limit of rainbows on Friday for dinner. Several boys had never caught a fish before. I really like that lake, and true, the hike down on the S end REALLY keeps out the casual fishermen, not to mention that the 4 miles of FR 180 take about 45+ minutes to navigate down due to road conditions... I have yet to catch a brown there, though. Need to go when I can spend some serious time there without distractions.

Try the lake in the fall for browns especially the larger fish. Late Oct until access is closed. They move into shallower water and this lake produces a lot of fine fish, both rainbows and browns but in particular the browns.

In September of this year, AZG&F is presenting some proposals to the commission for some regulation changes in regards to fishing that should help improve the quality of fishing at some of the more remote locations around the state. The proposal at Chevelon Creek in particular, above and below the lake is to reduce the daily bag limits of trout and designate the creek as artificial fly and lure only.
