i have discovered that my Exide Orbital POS battery will NOT charge up. I took it to work, and put it on our Snap On D-TAC, a starting and charging system analyser.
I put it on multiple charge modes, among on was a 60 Amp charge. it was charging for less than an hour before the battery began smoking, or steaming hydrogen, i dont know which, out the vents. i used the infrared thermo meter to check the temp. it was 175° F!!!
so, it is junk, and will not charge up.
after three days of attemps i am sure of this.
in the past, while having this unknown bad, but recently jumpstarted battery, my wire from the alt to the 80 main fuse, and then again to the batt terminal was getting so hot to the point where the sheild was melting.
i now know the battery is bad, and have not yet replaced it.
does it make good sense the cause of the wire burnin was caused from the battery?
thanks.
