Battery ground cable.

Looking at changing out my battery cables. Where does the negative battery cable terminate? I did a search and found the "Big Three" thread that showed where all the other grounds are but not the battery ground.
 
The factory ground for the battery terminates about 8" up on the drivers side front fender. I included it in my "Big Three" thread but I indicated it in the pic below:

In my upgrade I left it alone but added a new ground that terminates on the support piece in front of the battery as seen here:

I thought the main ground was on the engine block somewhere and that one on the fender was just a secondary?

Thats my understanding as well. I see the thinner negative cable and where it bolts to the fender but the large negative cable off the battery disappears into the wiring harness. It must terminate somewhere on the block or possibly the main underhood fuse box ? I figured someone on here has to know.
