Thats right its time for the official basketball thread to get started up. Now Marshall will have a reason to talk about sports and us Clemson guys will know what USC football fans feel like.

Clemson had its first and only scrimage tonight blowing out Lithuania Academy 99-50. Our new center the big foreign white guy put in 6 or 8, and another one of our freshman looked good with 5 steals and 3 blocks playing a little small forward. The one two punch of Vernon (best point guard in the acc) Hamilton and James (best dunk of the year 04) Mays looked pretty good as well. 10 days til we have a real game. Go Tigers!

Never have been a Notre Dame fan, even though I grew up in Indiana about 60 miles away. I will be watching them this year though as one of my cousins is on the team. 6-8 250 lbs.

commendable, isn't exactly something to inspire pride.

Why so cheap in Chapel Hill vs. Cameron?

I've been a Duke BB fan for 25 yrs (UGA doesn't play BB anymore)... lived in Raleigh in the mid-80's during Duke's Golden Era... oh wait... it's still the Golden Era for Duke... never ends!

I was a Duke fan growing up and still watch them more then I watch Clemson but they are not going to win the ACC this yr, you can mark it down. UNC has a ridiculous amount of talent. If they come together and play they have to be one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the country. Duke just doesnt have enough depth or talent to compete with them this yr I dont think. Paulus is hurt and will miss some time as well.

This does look like UNC's year to have a shot at it all.

My prediction is UNC win's the title, but Duke pulls out the ACC tournament victory... Coach K can win the big game with lesser talent and UNC/Duke is always a tossup.

Glad I'm not alone in the world as a non-Duke alum that likes em.

# of seats. Boths schools have the same fan base. Camerons are expensive because there are not many seats available.

I thought it was because you had to take a 40hr class and learn the songs to sit in Cameron. They do it right at a BB game.

Now Football? I went to one Duke game when I lived up there... the yr Spurrier took them to the top 25. Opening cheer at most schools is rowdy and obnoxious. At Duke, they were silent, and then took their keys out and "jingled" them... I was embarassed for them.

I think the tigers might win 20 this yr if we dont get any injuries or academic problems or anything else. We got 19 without our best player last yr. OP is a good coach hes gradually getting us turned around. Its just damn hard to be a bball coach at a fball school.

We have only had that happen once in my time yr it just happened to be last yr and happened to be our best player. Texas Tech just lost their best player for that reason.

First official poll came out today. Clemson got exactly 0 votes woo woo. UNC is #2 only team besides Florida to get a first place vote.

Well, with all 5 starters back it's a possibility but I doubt it.

Too much parity, too many other good teams and too many variables to make it likely.

Even with a great team, winning the NCAA championship in hoops takes a lot of lucky breaks and bounces that go your way through the season and tourney IMO.

Agreed. March is my favorite time of year though!
