this is taking the "we want pics" mantra very seriously...:)

oh, and I'm not riding with anybody who does 90+mph, btw

I guess you will never ride with me then E9999 !!

Be careful when lifting it Sub.. lift really makes the 100 ride differently at speed, even a couple of inches makes it more of a "chore" driving at high speed...especially when the weight of your rig gets a bit sideways...

I have gone 100mph+ on dirt roads with both stock tires/height and 33`s w/2" of lift...and there is a HUGE difference in stability...

For the type of use your 100 will see...My best advice is..keep the stock height, put a slightly stiffer replacement shock such as a Bilstien or Old Man Emu , .. put an equivalent to a 33" tire on a 16 inch rim that will take a lot of abuse and sidewall impacts, such as a Goodyear MT/R , or better yet a Toyo OpenCountry M/T...

...and run those roads like there is no tomorrow !!...

The added clearance of the lift is not worth (in my opinion) the loss of high speed stability in your scenario.

And when its done..Lets see some pics of that bad boy screaming across the Mexican desert !!

BFG 33 AT .. stiffer front T-Bar from Sway away or OME (you will have to lower it to keep stock hight) .. stiffer rear spring with stock Height .. LTR Shocks bolt on .. maybe sway barz from TRD for the stability ..

Without lifting you will have many more (and better I might add) choices for shocks. Billies, Konis, etc. As discussed in another thread OME don't have proportional valving...the Billies and Konis are going to offer much better handling/performance benefits on highway...especially at the speeds you want to drive. Lift it and you can kiss almost all your choices goodbye...

I have Konis and am still waiting for OME865 springs to come. First I'll try to mout these springs and see what will happen. If it will not be OK, i'll shorten them. As I use this car for expedition purposes, it's allways fully loaded, when I run it off road. So it should be at about the same height as it is now with the OEM springs. I'll change the springs only because they are too soft when the car is fully loadedh.
When the car will not be loaded, I might have limited wheel travel because of the too short shocks. Should there be something else wrong?

And as you don't intend to use the car for offroading, I really don't know why would you have to lift it and use bigger tires. A lifted car just can't perform better on the street, because of lifted center of gravity. And using bigger tires without changed gearing is not what you want if you plan to fully load your car. For the kind of use you have described just about any tires should do. And all terrin tires should be more than enough.

You got it SIN!:)

Actually I have taken it with the stock Michelin tires across some sandy desert areas but I punctured one tire already thats when I decided something needed to be done. Sorry no pics of that event...
But here is when I had my Suburban, this river goes right over the road in this spot...

The guy to the left on the bike got soaked!

Too rocky of an area with the stock tires, IMHO.

This is a typical road where I live, notice the jagged shoulder on the right side of the road...

Just a pretty spot...

This is the area where I like to blast on dirt roads too bad I don't have much time for it, next time I will try to post some action shots...

This may be offtopic but does anyone here have the TRD supercharger installed? I have seen a few for sale... but big $$$. It might be worth it though since the truck wasn't too much to start with.

Thanks for the input I understand what you are saying but I do take it offroad just not rockcrawling, mostly just really bad paved back in 1930 kind of back roads. If you have seen a Baja race that can be very similar to what I do everyday but I just dont drive that fast OFFroad.

Subspd, great pictures... very visual thread. I agree with all those who said not to raise your cruiser but to install higher rate springs with the appropriate shocks and sway bars.

Another drawback of raising the vehicle is that you will lose about 1 degree of caster per inch raised. For high speeds, ideally, you'd probably want even more caster than the stock settings for stability.

I would go no larger than 33's and use 1" wheel adapters on all 4 wheels to increase your track width.

I agree with hoser.

Firmer spring rates, stock height, etc.

The wheel spacers are a good idea too or some new wheels with more offset.

I looked into spacers but the cost was crazy, are there any wheels available with more offset?

Ray who?

There are plenty of wheels with more offset. But as I've found their offset is not suitable for LC100, as they are made for LC105. Stock LC100 wheels have offset arround +60mm (I haven't done the exact measurement - this is the data I've found on the internet and is correct according to my measurement - with a wheel on a car). Stock LC105 wheels have offset of +25mm. So if you use the LC105 wheels the tires will stick out for about 35mm more - and it's too much for me.

1" wheel spacers on stock wheels would give an equivalent of 35mm of offset. You can also buy aftermarket wheels in that offset. I am running 1.25" spacers up front which is the equivalent of 28mm of offset (on an 8" wheel).
