so, as a couple of you may already know.... I toasted the motor in my Cruiser. In my never ending venture of squeezing every last ounce of HP outta my 2F I made a bad mistake. I just aquired a nice Mallory mechanical dizzy for my rig. I figured full mechanical would be cool over vacuum being that it has 23 degrees of advance from the moment you snap the throttle.

so, i drop it in, check oil pressure.... OK 70 psi cold idle. I then I decide to take it for a spin and see what it does. the mistake I made was that I left the dizzy screw loose so That I could adjust timing as needed. Well, less than 1/2 mile up the road I noticed the truck working hard to move and saw oil pressure was 0 psi..... I shut it down to check things out and at that point I realized the dizzy popped up and was longer engaged to the oil pump.

Long story short, I spun the #3 rod bearing, toasted the cam, and a few other minor things..... So the crank is at the machine shop being turned and polished, have to order a gasket kit and new cam, bearings, seals, etc......

What a way to start the summer:rolleyes:

oh just brutal:eek: best of luck getting it fixed

If only you ran prolong oil additive you wouldn't need O.P. :p

Too bad it got the cam also, do you have the motor out on the stand now?

Matt

I was thinking the same thing..... I could here thats dudes voice in my head with the firehose filling the engine:grinpimp:

Yeah, it is in the stand torn right down to the block. The crank is at Universal Auto in Albany. They turned it .020 under, got me new bearings, pressing in my cam bearings and cleaning the block. Now I just need to cough up the cash to get my seal kit, cam, and all the other little do-dads I need to put her back together.....:censor:

ouchie.

Good luck with it chris.

so, I the crank and block back from the machine shop today.... They turned the crank .020 under, resized the 1 rod (#3), new bearings, cleaned the block....etc..... $550:eek:

I still need to order my cam, lifters and valve springs plus order my gasket kit....

Now I'm pissed that I have to have everything rebalanced being that the crank was turned and the one rod was resized.

I got a quote to have the entire rotating group balanced.... $190

This is getting expensive quick:crybaby:

Its a bummer, but ya gota pay to play... I started this boat project and I am kinda thinking finishing the cruiser would have been cheeper, but dont tell my wife :grinpimp:

Sooooo is it done yet? your junk has been sitting for so long I can hear it rusting down here in CT :flipoff2:

Nope, not yet..... I'm still about $500 shy of being done.....
