Can a battery check 11.86 on a meter and still be bad? All my connections seem to be good and tight. When I turn the it shows low on gauges in the truck. Will jump start every time and showing 12v after that.

The battery itself will not produce 14 or even 13 volts, running or not. You measure 13.5-14.5 volts at the battery because the alternator is charging the battery at 13.5-14.5 volts.

Random website from the internet. Fully charged voltage should be around 12.6v. Lower than that would indicate a discharged, or old, battery.

So the battery was bad but under warranty. After replacing the battery the alternator was checked and the voltage regulator checked bad. Should I just have the whole alternator rebuilt?

On your 60? The voltage regulator is removable, even though it's "internally regulated". From toyota, it's expensive, might as well just get a reman alternator:

Noticed today the voltage goes up when I am on the gas. Going to check the belt tension first. May just be a loose belt.

Gabe you have a crap battery. You can try putting on a 3-6 amp trickle charger and see if it will come back but most likely you have a bad cell and the battery won’t hold a charge. Like said if it doesn’t read a voltage over 12.5-6 at full charge then it’s d ad. This test is with the battery not connected to the truck.

Battery has been replaced. Was under warranty. Looking into voltage regulator now but need to make sure belt isn't loose.
