Found a wireless back up cam set at Wally Mart(yeh yeh I know slave labor, blah blah. I give up. I am addicted to cheap chinese crap)
Anywho it's only 98 bucks and it s pretty dam cool
It's wireless but reception is decent and it really does give you a good view of the back world. It s the ultimate reality show right in your cruiser.
All you O.C.D. types (like me) will have a gas figuring out where on the dash or overhead to stick the reciever. It s cute little unit fer sure. Also buy some double sided tape when youre at the capitalist palace :an LC must-have-glovebox-item.

Guess now I ll have no excuse to "accidently" back up over the X .....

Any thoughts >?

pics! link to where you got it

Are they any good in dark places ? I've seen some such in my area but have been reluctant to aquire as I don't have any trouble backing up because of my sensors except in heavy rain when they go looney. I'd like to score some of those but have doubts that they would serve all that well in dark places when you would need them most.

When I had my old Toyota van it had one of those cameras (black and white) and it worked even at pitch dark. Maybe just high sensitivity or something...

I'm sure it varies from model to model though.

My $0.02.

Mot,

Thanks for the info. I'm reasonably sure you get better choices there what with the prices you have to pay. Stuff they sell here are so cheap that some are useless. Brand doesn't help much. The same box can have different names. For me, the only safe way is to try it out or find someone who has already bought one.

Good to hear from you again.

i looked at my local wal-mart and on the website and could not find it. thats why i was asking if anyone could find a link

Hmmmm.... Would make a good undercarriage camera? Mounted on a frame rail pointed forward? 2.5" is a pretty small screen though.

Good for hooking up trailers.

I better get back to Wal mart and find me a below wholsale priced digital cam so I can start sharing (I am proud of my"Pig") Sorry local camera shop...

Light sens is actually pretty dam good at night about the same as your eyes You can always get HIR back bulbs or even rig up a backup floodlight WM give you 90 days to return the thing no questions asked but you wont and they know it...

I think it s called a "wireless back up cam" I saw one on the site last night look again this time right at the screen:)

I d send you the link but have no clue how to. then again if you cant get on wal marts site hang it up dude.....

yeh but surprisingly cear and bright (I not an agent for W.M. I swear!!!!)

If your on this side of the fence Crappy Tire sells em' for 150 bucks.

Going to try one for lining up trailer hitch hook ups - if it means not having to get out five times without a spotter then it would be worth it.

funny post from tundra solutions on the wireless version. seems like the consensus is the wired version works better

post:
"Still works after one week....

However, on a humorous note I've noticed that the "receiver" will come on from time to time when other RF video systems are in range, providing some interesting images:

- A few of Georgia DOT's highway surveillance systems seem to strike a chord as I found myself looking at video feed of I85 around the Airport today.

- I wasn't sure if it was a baby monitor or perhaps a Private Investigator's surveillance camera, but at one point I was looking at an IR camera video feed of someone's king size bed; me thinks someone hopes to video tape a spouse "in flagrante delicto"

- At least one small store's surveillance system popped up.

Based on these observations I guess if there are any problems with the car mounted units it's the camera transmitter not the receiver."
