I'm rolling solo this weekend, tomorrow thru Sunday.
I will be doing the brakes, oil and water pump on the Tundra. I will be working at a leisurely pace while sampling some growlers of the local brewers, Bad Wolf and Heritage breweries. They also both have breweries right down the street fom me if any one wants to meet up as well.
Anyone who wants to swing by and share a pint or turn a wrench is welcome.
I'll post my new address in Manassas on the member section. If you don't have access to the member section, but want the address, drop me a PM or text and I'll send it to you.

Cheers,
Stump

Hey Stump is it a 5.7 Tundra? And are you replacing the water pump due to leaking? There's a Service bulletin from Toyota that says some leaking on that is normal. It was something about grit getting in the seal causing a leak. It said most of the time it should resolve itself. I've changed a couple of those water pumps but seen quite a few more that were weeping that didn't get changed.

Ryan,
It is the 5.7 water pump. The weeping has gotten progressively worse. I am at 110K, so it is time either way. I will replace the belt, thermostat and tensioner pulley as a matter of course.
Gonna try to do it without pulling the rad... I saw it done and seems pretty straightforward.
Any top tips?

There's a lot more that comes off to get the pump out than it looks like. All the little pipes on the driver side come out. It's not a bad job though. I don't remember if I pulled the rad last time or not. It was a 200 series though so probably different anyway. I just looked fsm doesn't show pulling the rad. I've got a set of extra long wrenches and a pump holder that make it easier to get the pulley off if you need them. I can print the FSM pages if you need them.

Ahhh, gotcha. I have a home made spanner tool to to capture the pulley bolts. Yeah there are a few little pipes that need to be removed to access the pump. I've been banking curse words to use for the job ;)
