Just ran my axle vents up to the fire wall. But, from this site http://www.rockcrawler.com/departments/landcruiser/whatley/jan0198/jan0198.htm

"There are still a couple of lubrication related concerns to deal with before we take our cruiser swimming. Both of the axles, and the transfer case have similar vents. These all need to be extended as well (to the topof the firewall again) to prevent potential water intrusion."

I can't find my transfer case vent! I looked and looked. Maybe mine doesn't have one?

cheers

If you look at the FSM, on what's marked the "rear case" toward the top and opposite of where the PTO cover is, there's an oil seal - I'm wondering if that's it, and if that seal is "breathable" - otherwise, there's nothing about it that I could find...

Tell the better half that I'm sorry for helping develop such a monster :whoops:

What happened to the cute couple I met with the perfect truck? Do you ever see them? I've got a few pics if you cant remember what they look like ;p . I'm no help on the vent lines. Looks like I've done enough already :flipoff2:

Yeah, the truck aint nuttin what it was at Katemcy! Oh yeah, and I think were still a cute couple, just a liitle made about Cruisers now. Well, at least I am. ha ha ha

thanks for looking in the FSM Swank60, and cheers jesterb.

Iv'e gotta find out about how the T-case vents???

Have you posted over in 40-55 tech? When we split, I was a little bummed because there are so many great gearhead 40 owners...

Maybe HZJ60 Guy or 60wag will check in. HZJ60 Guy always knows the weird stuff like this and, well, 60wag knows these damn things more thuroughly than anyone else I know of on the board...he's a rock star when it comes to the 60. (if you don't hear anything soon, you can PM 'em?)

would it vent through the transmission?

I was starting to wonder the same thing

I guess it must, and the transmission vents up through the shift lever according to the web-site previously posted. I might have wasted $1.50 on another hose splitter. CHIT! Well, the actual outcome has yet to be determined.

Thanks, I'm gonna keep searching and looking.

Nope. It will vent through your tranny if your breather fails! Hey, ask that Euclid fellow! He knows! I extended his breather at the 3FE Bash '04.
Seriously, the TC vent is on the top of the front case of your TC. The only way you will get to it is during a rebuild. You pretty much have to pull the front case to extend the breather. I suppose it may be possible to get at it by dropping the tranny support and letting it droop...but you didn't hear that here!
