Help needed.....
Trying to pull front axle out to inspect them after girlfriend went into a ditch. I have both sides tore down all the way. I pulled speed sensor and then normally the axles just slide out but not now. Everything spins free no binding no grinding axles just stuck. Any ideas whats keeping them in or better yet how to get them out?

Place the flats on the birfield to the top and bottom when trying to remove. I understand it allows more clearance to pull the axle. Otherwise, screw a bolt into the end of the axle shaft and attach a slide hammer to that (either with a puller or a flat washer, or something) and slide hammer it out. If it doesn't come out, odds are that the axle housing is bent pretty seriously. From some of the examples I've seen, it's TOUGH to bend one of these.

Do you have locking differentials? If so, you need to lock them BEFORE disassembly in order to put them back together easier and it MAY help to take them apart.

Did it hit hard enough on the corner to bend the axle? Typically they bend right where the knuckle ball meets the axle tube.

My PO hit a guardrail with the RF corner and after replacing all the broken off studs on the steering arm on the bottom of the knuckle, my alignment numbers show the additional caster and camber that the RF has VS the LF.

update...... used a slide hammer to yank them out. ended up being a bent housing. ordered a new one to replace bent one. install will be in a few days.
