or the differential protection type?
cause that kind is limited to mostly fabrication aswell.
a pipecap works well.

i would suggest cutting 1/4 inch 4x4 (or so) square stock and welding it onto the bottom.

some natural armor.
i wasnt for sure if you wanted something for the front, rear diff cover, or something welded to the bottom of the housing.

Just curious, If you are welding something similar to the photos onto the front axle, do you need to worry about heat generated? Do you need to remove the 3rd member to make sure no damage is done, or is that unnecessary?
Your are going to need to strip the housing for that serious of welding. Take it all the way down to the bare housing. Better safe than sorry.

I'm doing the mini disk brake swap and installing a locker, so I was going to go ahead and strip, clean, weld everything on it.
Do armadillos really look like that?!
thats when i welded mine up.. when it was was completely apart when i was installing new gears and locker. and its probably easier to fit and weld it up when it lays flat on the housing.
