Looking to pick up an awning to a stock roof rack. Ideally one that is fairly easy to put on and remove whenever we are driving out onto the beach. Ive seen a few models out like the arb but wanted to get some solid opinions here before jumping in.

I did search first and did not see anything comparing different brands so hopefully this isn't a worthless thread!

I just went through this, I landed on the ARB. Why? Well, I have several of their products and they are all top notch and holding up well. That said I am sure there are other brands that are rugged and durable as well, not to mention cheaper. However, for me it was as simple as ARB or go all-in and get one of the 270* awnings. FWIW, I bought mine on Amazon for $250 shipped for the 2500, I like that I can add the room or mosquito netting down the road if I desire.

I went with the ARB 2500 as well and have no regrets. I use the awning room as my primary tent and it is huge. Enough room for a queen size air bed and all your gear. A 270* awning would be nice but I'm getting by just fine with my setup, and for a lot less coin.

How long does it take to attach that tent/room in the real world? I bought the ARB with the plan of adding one of those down the road. Thanks

Real world time from parking to full setup is about 10 minutes with 2 people. That's with ground tarp and fully staked out but the first couple times it takes a minute to get oriented with the specific sides. Only obvious downside I have found is you have to fully pack it up if you want to move your vehicle.

I have an ARB awning and love it, as well. Check out the awning mounts from Gamaviti. I don't know how/if they can be attached to the factory stock rack, but talk to Tim and he'll be able to better advise you. They are awesome for quick mount/dismount for your awning.

Thank you all for confirming my thoughts on the arb. I would like to add the side walls down the road or at least the netting. With summer coming up the awning will be perfect for the beach.

I'm a fan of the tepui awning. Have one on my 80, and I plan on throwing one on my 100
