ok, i've been searching for this for a while on here and using goog, to no avail. Be patient with me b/c i am going to ramble my way through this. I'm not terribly electronically inclined, but wiring a switch isn't that difficult.

so here's what i'm interested in doing. i'm adding a pair of 9" round spots (the chinese "ARB" clones). i would like to keep the dash as clean looking as i can. i know this isn't really a big deal, but was trying to be creative if i could re-purpose a OEM switch (2006 TLC dash) in one of the two blanks that i have on the dash. one is the big square where the Locker dial was on the older 100's to the left of the steering column. i know i could just cut this or put an aftermarket rocker switch here (which is probably what will ultimately end up happening).

that said, there is a blank on the AC control panel where there are 3 switches and one blank arranged horizontally see photo below. they appear to be single-pole/single-throw switches in this order left to right. Front defrost, Blank, Rear Heat, Rear Defrost. the blank is what i'm wondering if anyone has, or if it's possible to even pop the blank and put one of these on there. as i understand it the Blank here is not used in North American vehicles, but may serve a purpose in other markets. if it's a single pole single throw already behind the blank is this something worth trying?

my next question would be could this switch be used in the blank where the diff switch was on the 80's and older 100's to run a pair of lights. i kind of like that it requires you to push the knob in to turn it to act sort of as a 'safety'. thoughts? sorry for the long post, i'm bored on a friday afternoon and my mind has started to wander and i'm trying to get imaginative versus just a basic old light switch.

another option is trying to hunt down one of these mirror controls and using it as a stealth light switch.

Sure, why not? If you are using high wattage incandescent lights, you'll want your switch to energize a relay that powers your high draw aux lights - not run the juice through the puny wiring and switch.

Because those don't fit any of the open/existing blanks.

I was bored and overthinking something and trying to get too creative.

I'm not positive that is applies to the 06 LC, but on the earlier models the "blank" under the stereo by the rear_defrost/rear_AC/mirror_defrost isn't your typical "blank":

on a 2000 does the rear defroster switch just pull off like the blank ?

On my son's 2000 we used a tacoma fog light switch in the blank where the RCSA OFF switch is on my 06 LX, and I assume your 06 LC.

Another option would be to use a LX "Night-View" switch in the blank you noted:

Or use the LX mirror switch and use the "mirror fold" button for the LED lights.

Or you could do some electronic trickery with a couple of relays to use the factory fog light switch to enable the fogs on low beam, and the 9" LEDs on high beam.

That is also the case for 06-07 there is a circuit board behind the “blank”
Only the blanks right and left of radio and the blanks in the area of mirror switch can be used
In my truck I also have some blanks where the heater for the seats should be (not sold/needed in my region)
