Wanted to post my success with a straightforward, relatively cheap, and excellent way to add aux input (and possibly ipod) to the factory LX audio system. This was installed on my '06 LX470.

I saw a bunch of vaistech installs, but there's no way I wanted to pay $150 for what should be a simple adapter.

I saw that some other Lexus models had success with the GromAudio adapter, and I choose this route. They have a few adapter choices for aux, bluetooth, ipod... though none were specific to the LX application as they don't list it in their database. I choose the GX470 since my dad has an '06 and it's audio system looks pretty much identical in architecture. I choose a generic aux adapter rather than the ipod adapter cause that will prove the test of time with a general interface should apple decide to change their interface (as they have in the past) Toyota / Scion / Lexus Auxiliary interface

I choose the GROM-AUX-TOY unit for $69. It dropped right. Installs similar to what was documented here for a vaistech unit:

Performance is flawless. You select the aux input by the 'CD' button. It toggles between my factory external DVD 6 disc changer and this new 'CD Changer' label for aux.

Mission accomplished.

I have used this unit on both our IS250 and Sequoia. I went with the Ipod interface though so it woud charge the Ipods or Iphones.

I just installed this very unit in my 07 LX470. So far so good. I'm really liking not having a lame tape deck adapter!

Fm is the only thing working on my OG HU. I at least want to have an aux option. I searched on the link provided. Not a clear install thread. Are the instructions provided with the product pretty straight forward?

Sounds like there may be little room behind the HU and installing wires and box(es) in the center console may be mo' betta.

If going the center console route may you tap into the wires needed for install somewhere in the center console? Or does one still need to get behind HU?
