Is there a simple effective way to wire an aux jack into the existing stereo in a LX?

Seems someone would make a switch that when spliced between say the CD input and an aux input jack would allow you to switch between inputs using the existing wires, and plug in your device of choice to play music. Does this not exist?

Currently, I have an iSimple Tranzit Blue FM modulator, but the audio quality suffers over the bluetooth connection. Plus, pairing/un-pairing is a pain in the ass. I'd just like to plug in a device and play my jams, but still use the CD player if I wanted.

Your pic didn't work. If it is a stupid cassette adapter, I used that in my 1989 Jeep Comanche 20+ years ago.,

Would something like this work?

GROM gets you both Bluetooth and aux while being completely hidden.

In hindsight, I wish I would have spent the extra coin for the Bluetooth version. The aux adapter works great, but not having to choose between music and charging would be a huge plus. Also no more fiddling with an aux cord and less cluttered cockpit.

I soldered an aux cable into my OE headunit. Plays on the AM channel.

That's cool, but I don't want to give up my CD player. It still works and sounds great!
I have an 07 with nav so I can’t speak for other configurations, but it actually acts as a splitter and doesn’t interfere with my disc changer operation. I press the Disc button once to use the changer and a second time to access the aux input.

This has been working for me, and many others on here. Bluetooth and aux input. Works in similar fashion but ties into the AM/SAT portion.

That sounds like exactly what I was looking for!
Mine is an '03 with nav, so it should be the same.

Thank you

That one looks pretty cool too.
I think the audio problem with my Tranzit Blue device is due it connecting via the FM antenna. The direct plug in like the Grom and this BT45 are what I am looking for.

Anyone know which is more reliable or has superior sound quality?

I can't speak for the GROM.

As for the BT45 the install was fairly simple, no special skills required. I believe it eliminates your CD changer ( but mine was busted anyway ) You can leave the module accesbile if you want to get to the AUX port. Mine is hiding up under the driver side . I also at one point removed the pocket in the center console , with very slight trimming the BT45 can fit there as well.

Audio quality is good. Bluetooth always hooks right up. The voice who tells you that you have an inbound call sounds like she's smoking crack but otherwise its a good device.

Maybe this: https://gromaudio.com/store/usb_ada...droid-iphone-car-integration-adapter-kit.html

with a flush mount USB/Aux port and wire loom to keep both cables together and tidy in the cabin. That way you can charge and play music at the same time, and listen to audio from other devices like old ipods with the aux cable.

No bluetooth, but that isn't a big deal to me. I could always add the bluetooth module later.

This seems like a pretty solid solution, although I do like the simplicity of the Aux only Grom that was linked early in the thread.

The BT-45 does not disable the CD player. Mine ties into the AM / SAT circuit. Sounds quality is just as good as with CD’s.
