NaterGater, Thanks anyway - I only had the day deal so I read through the TSB's - got to love those - Toyota finds problems and gives the dealer solutions, but they are not covered by warranty. Er, if they are problems - fix them, what do miles and time have to do with design flaws?
Oh well - obviously I am not complaining too loudly about Toys - this is my 6th.
I am in the process of labeling my folders by page numbers - not too troublesome.
Thanks again

Nator that is good stuff, to bad it is way back here on page 5,

the FAQ still points to the old labor intensive manual thread, and this thread is getting a bit long and has old and new ways in it also.

maybe it is time for someone (volenteers? -B-? Nator? Computer user?) to bring all the good stuff from this thread into a single easily digested post in a new thread with those pictures?

I agree Raven. If Nater doesn't have time over the next few days then I will be happy to do it. He asked me if he should start a new thread and I advised him to keep it in this one until the process stabilized. It is now ready to be the official way to DL the manuals and to be added to the FAQ.

Cool sounds like you guys are already on it.

Sup fools!:grinpimp:

Just got back in the ho-tel in Atlanta, I've been up here for a few days and away from the laptop. Luckily I've found enough time to put down my Garmin GPS and get on the forums, so I'll start compiling a thread.... I'm thinking three posts: a warning, instructions, and then the listing.

Should have it up in a jiffy...

Hello Guy's,

I'm new to the forum and I have been looking to get my hands on the SM for a 2006 Rav4. I would pay the 10$ for a 24hrs access to the TIS but I live in canada.

Can any one give me a hand?

Thanks
Christian

i'm good guy's, some gave me a hand :c)

Christian
;p
Hey, you need a passport to get to the forum now!!!;p ;p ;p ;p

Can you download HDJ81/HDJ80 series FSMs/manuals from the TIS? Am looking specific for the 1HDT manuals. My LC was manufactured October 1990

If yes, I have the concern as BoboXx - can you give me a hand as well? I live in the Philippines.

I had a bit of trouble getting this done but in the end I prevailed. One of my problems came from downloading a trial version of winzip. I had difficulty with it. Once I uninstalled it and tried again, I just used the proprietary program to unzip and voila, FSM.

Thanks Natergater.

Thank you.

I downloaded all (ya about 7 mins) and got the same icons you did. But when I try to open specific pages they are not there.

Kinda hard for us to figure out who you are "talking to" Steve since you didn't quote a specific post and you didn't say if you were trying this on WinXP, Linux, Mac, or a foobar system.

Have you read all the posts in this thread before you start asking for assistance?

Sorry. I thought I was posting to Nater's thread on downloading the JFC Manual.
When I click on, for example, "Clutch" and then on CL-22 I get a "file does not exist" error.

Thanks for the reply though.

Alright Guys, ready for beta 1:bounce:

I need beta testers! This should be a complete, organized copy of the 1996 LX450 Repair Manual. Let me know if this setup works for you... if you like the directory structure, if it is too complicated, if it doesn't work at all, etc.

EDIT: New Instructions to Try

Here are the steps (some stolen from the OP  )

1) Download the downloader package located here: http://www.nate-online.com/tis/1996LexusLX450RM.zip
2) Unzip the package in a subfolder of the location where you want all of your PDFs. For example, if you want the repair manual in C:\Lexus\Repair\ you need to unzip the folder in the zipfile to that directory. This would mean that all those text files (etc) would be in C:\Lexus\Repair\1996 Lexus LX450 Repair Manual\Downloader\ after you unzip. It is important to note the zip file has a directory structure it will unpack to keep your PDFs from spilling out into some directory and creating clutter.

3) Login to TIS ( http://techinfo.toyota.com ) and download any (one, random) pdf from service manual.
4) Look at the list of current cookies at your browser and find one from toyota.com named SMSESSION (In firefox goto Tools->Options->Privacy->Show Cookies)
5) Locate the file cookies.txt in the folder where you unzipped everything and copy the part of the cookie that is very long and cryptic over the indicated text (the SMSESSION value will be long and look something like this F0M6xHW55..........)
6) Double click on begin_download.bat and follow the prompt. If you've done it correctly you'll get 873 PDFs totaling 20.2MB neatly organized.

Good luck and report back on how everything goes so I know what to change.

Below is a picture of how everything was automatically placed on my computer after running the batch file.

Nate,

You Da' MAN! I was having fits running this manually, kept giving me errors.

ran the batch file and it's downloading now. Thanks dude, you saved me from having to punch myself in the head. :)
