A new review that touches on some of the LC vs LX, towing capabilities, and other issues that come up from time to time on this forum.

2011 Toyota Land Cruiser [w/video] — Autoblog

One of Autoblog's better reviews, as in the past they tended to be much more amaturish (if enthusiastic) relative to the more mainstream auto press. I was impressed that they accepted the LC on its own terms rather than complain that it isn't a mini-van.

The May sales figure - 99 - is simply insane for a high volume manufacture and such an historic model name. It will be interesting to see where Toyota takes the LC in the future.

I thought it was great review. Well done!

I would like to see Toyota add headlight adjustments switch which is available on Tundra and overseas 200 series.

ccepted the LC on its own terms rather than complain that it isn't a mini-van.

They kind of did near the end when they brought up the Highlander.

There is another review on Autoblog where they compared the LC vs H2

Thanks for posting. One of the best reviews on the 200 I have seen. Appreciate it!

That is really interesting! You would think with sales like 99 they would cancel production in the States. One of the problems they have and maybe they can't figure it out is that a lot of dealers, even the large ones, do not stock the 200. I stopped by the local dealer and asked why they don't stock the 200. The reply was we don't sell any so we don't stock them. I asked them getting one from another dealer...said that no dealers stock them and if they could find one it would be expensive to get them here. Now that is one of the reasons the sales figure is so low. Sort of like a gasoline outlet not having gasoline in inventory! Ha!

It's a flagship model and the same safety certification works for it and the LX570 which they do sell in higher volume. They aren't interested in selling Land Cruisers in higher volumes here, I'm just grateful they still bring it at all. It's main market it the middle east and Australia -

No you would not want to cancel, the profit margin on the Land Cruiser is rediculously high. Now compare that to the Yaris which has such a small profit margin.

Both the Yaris/Land Cruiser are made it Japan. At the MSRP of the Land Cruiser you have to sell how many Yaris cars to make the same profit?

I find 127 2011 LCs and 98 LX 570s listed nationwide on www.cars.com. I'm not sure if and how much the earthquake impacted current numbers so no idea of this is typical.

Edit: ( this is for something like ~1500 Toyota dealerships and ~200 Lexus dealerships. So your odds are much better of finding a 200 series at a Lexus dealer. The dealer count numbers are from quickie google search results, not going to argue them with anyone.... )

By the way, cars.com is a great place to see what the supply situation is really like, given the dealers will say anything to get you settle for something today, like a Sequoia setting in the corner of the lot, rather than the LC that might show up next week.

When I was looking I was told LXs and LCs tended to get shipped in groups. That seems to be the case. The local Lexus dealer said they didn't have any and there was no point in ordering any the first time I was looking. At the time there where no LCs to be found either. Four months later and the Lexus dealer had 3 LXs in stock, (well 2, after I drove one off the lot:)), but still no LCs to be found. A couple months after I bought my LX, all of a sudden every Toyota dealer in my area had 2, maybe 3, LCs. Now it seems they are back down to 1 or none again.
