You’re probably better off finding a low mileage takeout from an H55 conversion.Does any one have a suggestion for a reputable transmission shop that can rebuild my a440f in the Houston area?
Sunday both me and my son took it out for a drive and on the way back home it wouldn't change into the second or third gear. we limped home and then it wouldn't go in reverse. I really want to stay with a auto but trying to find someone who can do the rebuild work just anywhere in Texas is proving to be a chore. An extreme transmission is a thought but they are 20 plus weeks in lead time. You’re probably better off finding a low mileage takeout from an H55 conversion.
I know @cruisermatt just sold one that had almost no miles as it was recently rebuilt. Saw another shop in Arkansas that has/had one for sale.
I’d find the shops that do the conversions and hit them up. I need a new transmission as well, will eventually go 5 speed manual but am going to put a known working A440 back in for the time being.
What’s up with your transmission?
You should drop the pan and filter and see what you’re dealing with. Lots of folks have had luck resurrecting these trannys.Sunday both me and my son took it out for a drive and on the way back home it wouldn't change into the second or third gear. we limped home and then it wouldn't go in reverse. I have one sitting on my garage floor. Only has about 200 miles since I bought it from Valley Hybrids 2 years ago. My 3fe let go and I’m in the middle of an LS swap. Happy to work something out if it gets you back on the roadDoes any one have a suggestion for a reputable transmission shop that can rebuild my a440f in the Houston area?
I will do that this weekend and see what happens. I did get a line on one shop that might be able to help on it will keep you posted on both. You should drop the pan and filter and see what you’re dealing with. Lots of folks have had luck resurrecting these trannys.
When was the last time you drained and filled?
Is your level spot on?
Mine had clear evidence of clutch disk failure due to previous owner neglect and it’ll still drive, I just can’t trust it beyond moving it around my property.
thank you so much will give these guys a callApparently these guys have a rebuilt A440 for $1,000. They’re in Arkansas.
that for sure is something I would consider to do. I would just need to figure out what the freight would be from Missouri and what you would want for it let me know when we could perhaps discuss this. thanks,I have one sitting on my garage floor.
