show me what you did for a tramission temp guage. im a paranoid person about my cruiser and i dont have a guage for the temp of my tranny so i get worried i may over heat it. i pull a pretty long heavy trailer and just wanna know what others have done.

From my build thread

Autometer dual gauge pod for 94-01 Acura Integra (#20110)
Rustoleum 'Cobblestone' spray paint to match the tan interior
GlowShift MaxTow digital/analog water temp gauge
GlowShift 40mm water temp sensor adapter
GlowShift 7-color transmission temp gauge

Installed. Transmission probe was not hooked up in this picture, hence its whacky reading.

And here it is installed in-line with the trans cooler line

There is also one that BRIAN4X4 did. Which is the one I use. It replaces the drain plug with a sender. Then that to the gauge.

You can buy the kit from Wholesale Automatics in OZ which comes with the new cooler union allowing both the stock sender and the aftermarket to be used. Or you can install the aftermarket sender in place of the stock one with a screw in adapter. That's the route I went. The Madman kit came with the adapter, but pretty sure this is the one you'll need:

You can try tapping the cooler union at the elbow to allow for the aftermarket sender, but it's a bit tricky and best left to a machine shop. This is by far the best location as it's unexposed and doesn't require messing with your lines.

After you install a proper temp gauge you'll realize how useless the stock one is!

I have a single Autometer gauge pod with a SPA Technique DG203 dual gauge with the tranny probe plumbed to output of the transmission going to the cooler. It's a good location because Toyota put a boss there and it gives you the hottest temp which gives you a good idea of how hard you're working your transmission. The gauge isn't fancy looking but it's accurate and easy to read.

Just a note....If/when you drill the sender boss the fluid in the system will push out the drill chips so there is no worry about metal bits running through the trans.
