Just curious if anyone owns a set of aussie mats from CCOT for a '79 or later fj40. Looking all around for a nice set of mats to cover my floor. These seem to be the best I've found. One other option is the complete carpet kit from Cruiser solutions in NH, but I'm not so sure I want carpet in my cruiser. Whats the dirt on either one of these kits? feedback is appreciated.

P.S. these are the mats I speak of:

Looks like the mat I got from CCOT last year. Looks very nice. I like the insulation and sound deadening features. I worry alittle about trapped moisture underneath and the increase risk of rust. I plan on pulling mine out this summer and putting down some better bed liner product on the metal. Then will have to decide whether to put the mat back down.

I have CCOT's PVC mats and they work great and the price is good. I started to go with the aussie mats, but I went with the Pvc, being the cheap-o that I am. Very thick material and comes with thick insulation for the front. This isn't a great pic, but you can see it on the tranny hump. (Those are some dirty carpet mats in the floor)

I got a set for my 77 this winter when I was doing my resto. I have a fiberglass tub, you can see in the pic that it doesn't sit very well on the passenger side of the tranny hump. I don't believe that is the fault of the mat, the tranny hump shape was slighty different from stock on that side. I'm hoping that will get better this summer when it gets hot?

As far as the quality, ok I guess. I wasn't blown away or anything when I opened the box and fit them in there, but I would probably buy another set again. There fairly basic, heavy PVC type mat with a felt type substance on the back side, a heavy fabric/vinyl piece folded over the edges and sewn on. They are molded, but didn't seem like they were molded as good as the pics on there website.

The pre-78 set is $200, I noticed 79+'s are $350, seems like a big difference, but I imagine there's more product used in those.

John, those TPI mats look like the piece over the hump is different that the floor pan area? do they have any backing on them for sound reduction? and does the mat go up under the seats like the ccot mat? have any pics of the kit for 79s and later? I notice your signature says you have a 79. Are they grey or black? thanks.

Do any of the mentioned suppliers sell a molded mat w/out the cutouts for the tranny and t-case shifters? My '77 has a small block in it and the shifters were relocated an inch or to towards the forewall, and my stock floor mat doesn't fit it real well.

Thanks,

Rob

The CCOT Aussie mats I got for my 77 have no cut outs for the tranny or T-case and there are no patterns where to cut them.

You can cut them where every you want.
