Not sure how to post this in the Resistry section .
I haven't looked or posted in awhile so just following the new requirements if I've understood them correctly.
Recent interest is looking to see if there are any electric handbrake solution that utilizes the rear callipers like they have done for the 70 series cruisers.

1. Year and model : 1997 GXL Turbo Diesel 1HDFT
2. Name of owner : Peter
3. Name of rig : Cruiser ( boring I know but it doesn't have one )
4. Mileage : 478,000 KMs
5. Mods...if any : Safari Intercooler , Radius Airbox , Monro Turbo , 2 inch lift , Dobinson MRR shocks , 12k Carbon Winch , DWIZ front Diff Housing , Beaudesert Exhaust 3inch , TJM front bull bar , Kmar rear bar with dual arms , Longrange Fuel Tank ( 160 litre replaced the 50l sub tank ) , 30l water tank , Alpine Stero , 23 Zero rooftop tent mounted on the ARB base rack ,etc
6. How the truck is used : Not a daily but family holidays and remote touring ( overlanding I think you guys call it )

Nice FT!

Two options I guess.

Transfer mounted electric hand brake.

Swap in a 105 rear diff housing, uses same rear hub as a VDJ79, throw on the 79 electric park brake kit.

Hi Gerry , I was thinking something along these lines the other day as I'm considering upgrading my rear housing . The hubs may be the same but do you know if the brake callipers and mounting points are the same as well. Its something I'll look into.
I rang Bendix a couple of months ago about this kit . They don't do a kit "YET" for the 80 series but did say they would develop one if they had enough interest expressed by people contacting them .
I just need a lot of 80 Series owners ringing Bendix to request they develop a kit , then they may actually do one .

VDJ79 + FZJ105 use the same caliper mounting bracket. Looks like it's the same mounting bracket for 80s as well. I'll have a dig through DBA's site and pull up rotor sizes, you may be able to make it work on an 80 without much hassle.

EDIT: 105 rear rotors are almost identical to VDJ79 rotors, 0.5mm difference in height. I'm thinking it should work relatively simply.
