:flipoff2: That pickup was soooo stuck it was not even funny. He must have let it sit there for a solid 2 hours before realizing that his truck was stuck as hell.

you should have hit it at jeep speed

If you are going from concord get 200 to 601 and avoid the traffic lights and traffic on 74. If you are driving from charlotte i normally take providence to 84. It is a bit longer but you get no traffic.

I'm officially out Andrea has planned something for my birthday that weekend. Oh well

If the weather is nice I'll probably camp. If the temps are gonna be too hot I may reconsider

On the north end yes. Freeman park. You can also cook out, have a camp fire (with a metal basin), drink alcoholic beverages, set up a trampoline, etc. You can bring and do whatever you want as long as you don't need a trailer.

+1 to what Burt88 said.

Also no glass containers. The fee is like 20 bucks for entry onto the beach.

OK...so who is going? and who is camping?.... my wife is willing to attend ( but we may sleep at my moms in calabash, I can't stand a hot tent...and do I need to bring my own birthday cake?

Yes the new guy has to bring a whole pig so we can cook it on the new cooker! Welcome to onsc!

Crud, I've got a family thing back up North so it looks like I'm out. Coincidentally, it looks like there will be some pig slaughtering going on...

I'm in.

We need to pick a time and if a couple of people can get out there early to start grabbing some spaces it would probably be good.

I'll be staying in town with family Fri. and Sat. but would consider camping if the weather's cool enough.

So are we aiming for fort fisher....? Its good for us

I think most of the discussion has been aimed toward Freeman Park at the north end of Carolina Beach. There are less restrictions there. Camping, fires in containers, and alcohol are allowed.

Will be heading down Friday morning and staying thru Wednesday. We are staying at a friends condo on the waterway (while they are out of town) and will be driving out to Freeman Park daily to play in the sand. Anyone plan on doing any surf fishing. Would love to watch and learn - and I share beer! Let me know general arrangements and location.
