Audiovox SecuriKey+ Alarm System

My 1997 Cruiser has a SecuriKey+ alarm system installed in it. Unfortunately the PO wasn't kind enough to keep track of the keyless remotes. Two questions: 1) does anyone know where I can get a replacement remote? 2) I've read that these systems were recalled by Toyota -- anyone have experience with the recall or had one that went bad (apparently it can cause nasty stuff to go wrong with your electrical systems, etc.). From what I can tell, (reading from the web) the systems were sold through dealers in the gulf states (LA, TX, etc.). Mine came from Texas.

Sounds like you have the same system I have -- mine came from a dealer in Georgia. Haven't heard anything about a recall. You can order the remote from Audiovox.

Help!!! Last night I changed the alternator in my neighbors 2000 Tundra. His truck has the Securikey system. When we reconnected the battery the system went nuts! His Tundra won't start. I have read over a couple of Tundra forums and haven't found anything on these systems going nuts. Anybody know anything about the Securikey!!!???

I have that same alarm on 2 vehicles. I haven't totally figured it out but it will kill the vehicle for awhile if you disconnect the battery, or even use the remote to lock the vehicle and a key to unlock. If you haven't figured it out yet I think you need to lock the car with the key then unlock it with the key, get in close the door and try to start it? I have instructions somewhere if you still need any help.
