Mods are for people who are willing to risk flopping their truck. Rigs like Woody, Texican, and Space Ghost drive are built to flop. It isn't really their intention maybe, but it was not ruled out as it is in my truck. I do some pretty extreme stuff compared to most street legal trucks( I chicken out sometimes too ) and I've had some pretty close calls.
I saw the Shed Guy's pics of his old truck with 38.5's and it lit a fire under me. I immediately bought a set on sale, so did Hammerhead. Then we got cold feet. We decided we couldn't cut up our trucks that much.
Last week I bought a '74 rust bucket FJ40, and a couple of years ago I gave Hammerhead "Fireball". A burnt to the ground '69 FJ40. We're gonna make "Cruggys" out of them. Our 38.5's will be on them. We want to dovetail them and use all the great rollcage ideas in the tech section. We are also going to incorporate a lot of the Hendrix ideas into them too! Unlike our buddies that are rolling in dough, we'll be using Qjets not propane or FI. LR's in front and Lincolns in back. The mini mods we want in the front ends of our DD's will probably end up in our Cruggys. If we're really dilligent we might scrape together the dough to buy doubler adapter kits from ORD by having a garage sale of all our unwanted tranny's and TC's (mostly GM & Ford) and Astro Van drivetrain, P/U bed trailers, etc.
