You fawkers that paint your rigs some ungodly flag color or add AL to a cruiser are sick..

A cruiser is only a cruiser if it is unmolested (read stock, and I mean all the way to the batery cables). Everything else is a mongrel.

I can't believe that anyone would willfully modify an already perfect truck...

Finally, some common sense.

At least Woody's still has a full body left... :flipoff2:
Define "full body"

I don't think Woody's body counts :flipoff2:

Mods are for people who can't drive...

Mods are for people who are willing to risk flopping their truck. Rigs like Woody, Texican, and Space Ghost drive are built to flop. It isn't really their intention maybe, but it was not ruled out as it is in my truck. I do some pretty extreme stuff compared to most street legal trucks( I chicken out sometimes too ) and I've had some pretty close calls.

I saw the Shed Guy's pics of his old truck with 38.5's and it lit a fire under me. I immediately bought a set on sale, so did Hammerhead. Then we got cold feet. We decided we couldn't cut up our trucks that much.
Last week I bought a '74 rust bucket FJ40, and a couple of years ago I gave Hammerhead "Fireball". A burnt to the ground '69 FJ40. We're gonna make "Cruggys" out of them. Our 38.5's will be on them. We want to dovetail them and use all the great rollcage ideas in the tech section. We are also going to incorporate a lot of the Hendrix ideas into them too! Unlike our buddies that are rolling in dough, we'll be using Qjets not propane or FI. LR's in front and Lincolns in back. The mini mods we want in the front ends of our DD's will probably end up in our Cruggys. If we're really dilligent we might scrape together the dough to buy doubler adapter kits from ORD by having a garage sale of all our unwanted tranny's and TC's (mostly GM & Ford) and Astro Van drivetrain, P/U bed trailers, etc.

coming from you, just is just plain funnay! :flipoff2:

Mine still techinically has a near-full body....however, as wngrog hints, that may not last....there isn't a straight piece of sheetmetal anywheres, and I'm too lazy to pound it out and reweld all the torn places.

I'm still in tossup mode, however the cage and body are gonna be pulled next week regardless to prep for the new driveline....once it's loose, we'll see what stupid ideas I come up with....

Man, if you think you can build a rig from scratch with a Hendrix chassis on a budget, you need to think it through. Building from a tube chassis is expensive!

Best advice here tigerstrip40. You talk of getting a hendrix chassis and being within budget of your current rig and considering that vs. a cage. You will be much cheaper just puting in a cage and running what you got.

You have to remember that every piece of that rig will have to be custom and pruchased and/or modified. Not only will the big pieces add up but all the brackets, lines, nuts bolts, everything will nickle and dime you. Don't get me wrong, I love that I am building a full on tube chassised rig, but you have to go in realistically.

Just to give you a hint, I am in about $17000 even with a $100 motor and tranny and building everything myself. Yes I could have gone with cheaper axles, but would have put into the motor if it didn't go there.

Butch built his rig to flop???

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
that is a good one..

If you learn to drive you won't flop your rig.

There is no need to drive places that a stock rig can't go..

I chuckled myself at that.....although I could flop it on a ramp or taking a corner too fast fetching your broke ass in.........

Butch

can you flop your rig will towing a dead cruiser across the campground?

See, if he had birfs he would have been fine.

You guys are nuts.. Every day someone decides to molest their cruiser because they think what you do is "cool"
