AT Drain - Refill Interval

Forgive my newbie-ness on this. I've owned 20 cars, but only 2 have been automatic, and I didn't keep the first one long enough to change the fluid.

I got a 1/2 off deal on Mobil 1 ATF fluid and I was going to do 2 or 3 drain/refills in a row to swap out the fluid, then I'll start doing the drain/refills every 10k. I'm wondering what needs to be done to cycle the fluid around enough in between the first couple changes.

Start it up and run through the gears, drive around the block, drive around a couple days?

I'm in the process of doing this now actually. I thought I'd just do 1 dump and fill, then at next oil change, do it again (I do these at 2500-3000mi intervals) and do it a 3rd time after the following oil change. I'm doing this because my current fluid is a very nice pink colour still

OregonLC did a nice write up on how to use the trans pump to cycle out ALL of the old fluid in one shot while adding new stuff...should be in the FAQ section, one sec...
