Hey Marshall and Upstate gang-

This guage cluster looks very similar to one you posted in the archives. Any chance you and the others can help me sort this out with the EZ harness I have. I think I have all the continuity mapped out - just wondering if I should wire up to the disc or wire directly to the meters - I will have to wire to the disc for the gauge lights and blinkers.

I posted in the 40 tech but it didn't draw much interest and I was too intimidated to pursue.

Please UC come through for me - the summer is a passin'!!! Thanks,

William Regen

I can share what I've managed to work out (not much) or if you have a schematic from when you wired yours up and are willing to share. This is a stumper!!

The copper connection between the positive post on the amp meter and the plastic connector above it is broken so I need to wire the amp meter to the posts. EZ says to route the solenoid power wire to one side and then run a wire to the positive side of the battery terminal. Would the wire to the battery from the amp meter come off the negative side or positive side of the meter?

I don't know how to link.

Thanks Marshall for the interest, for the bump, and for always being there. I have kind of given up on the main board - my core knowledge isn't at a level yet where they can be helpful. They try to be but I don't understand what they're saying. I'm driving in the slow lane and they're cruisin on the autobahn. I'd love to give you a call and pick your brain about this. This forum doesn't lend itself to deep explanation since everything must be typed and then responded to in kind. I don't type fast.

You tested your circuits off the 40 with a 9 volt battery - how did you do that?

Should I wire to the posts themselves or try to wire to that disc? On the amp meter - does the positive side go to the battery and the negative come from the alternator/fuse panel or is it reversed?

I'm trying to figure this out on the floor of the den before I wire it into the 40. I REALLY appreciate your help.

Don't hesitate to let us know what's going on. I know it's a pain to post up every time, but some of us (me) could use the extra help. One day, I'll be able to help someone.

I hear ya about the main board...there are several who are very patient and willing to help. But most seem to think I'm an idiot because I'm not a certified mechanic.

At least you have a specific question. I don't even know where to begin with my 40. Good luck with it!

Hey, I'm going to stay after it this time. Post and Pic until I get it done - kind of like one of Badass' posts. I'm more of a lurker - but I've read until I'm blue in the face - I just can't implement so that's what I need help with.

No - MUD and esp. UC have been invaluable - Marshall, Chuck, Jeremy aka Belmont148 - I'd still be on jackstands if it weren't for them.

Pin Head referenced some material for me to read so it's off to edify myself. Thanks.

William
