Hey all

I replaced all the little lights on my center cluster including the factory radio today.

Are these supposed to light up too? How about the power window switches. Currently, only one button is constantly on. It's dark now and could plan my day better tomorrow if I know. Thanks.

On mine they dont but then again 1/2 of my other switches don't either so they could just be burnt out?

Not back-lit.

Since I'm getting inquires, here's some info.

I'm not a fan of LED's that for lights that need to be dimmed
I did not buy bulbs with bases, just the bulbs. Unravel the old leads and bend on the new ones around the twist base.

I got them from ebay. Search for "rice bulbs" or "wheat bulbs". 3mm diameter and 4mm diameter
100 pcs Dia. 4mm Clear 14V 80mA Grain of Wheat Bulbs mini bulbs
Grain of Wheat = 100 pcs 3mm Clear 12V Mini Bulbs
Look for 12 volt and at least 80 mA. 40 mA will work but I wasn't happy with the brightness. You don't need 100 of each. I just like to have spares:grinpimp:

I think you need eight 4mm ,one 3mm, and one wedge t5 for the ac cluster. You will need twelve 3mm for the radio buttons. The radio lcd screen needs 2 super bright 4mm bulbs which I didn't have so I didn't replace(still working)

Thanks for posting! I'm in the middle of this too and was wondering if you compared brightness with an old bulb versus a new and if so how close was it? It looks like the 3mm listing is a 100mA. Thanks!

All of my 3mm bulbs blew so I didn't compare those. The 4mm ones, 80 mA amp was pretty identical to stock, maybe a tad brighter but the stock one was probably old. Beforehand, I did buy a pack of twenty 40 mA 4mm from somewhere else and I was disappointed in those. It was only a couple bucks so no biggie.

BTW, along with the cig lighter which needs the pins pulled out and soldered off, the 3mm lights on the radio needs to be soldered off the circuit board. It would be wise to have a sharp soldering tip for that. You need to get at a small area.

Take the radio out, take off all the knobs, pull the face off by prying the 3 tabs. Take off the lcd screen, then take off the main circuit board from the face holding the buttons. Be sure to keep the face down or the buttons will fall out and it will be a hell of a time to figure out the configuration of the buttons. Maybe take a picture.
