hello,

I have a set of winter tires on rims for my land cruiser. I would like to put some summer tires on rims permanently, so all I would need to do is remove the lug nuts and change the wheel, once in the spring and once in the fall so I will be prepared for the approaching season. I don't like taking the tire off of the rim because I think it's not good for the tire. just my opinion.

land cruiser rims are impossible to find cheap, where 4runner rims are sometimes available in salvage yards.

I did some investigating and it appears that 4runner rims are interchangeable with land cruiser. my cruiser is a 96. is this true?

what years are interchangeable, and in what way(s)?
are there differences, what are they, and is there a way around these differences?

all info is much appreciated.

Lots of 3rd Gen 4Runner guys ran the LC 80 series wheels. The LC wheels have more back spacing and are .5" wider I believe. Same bolt pattern obviously.

Has to be 16". I believe there might be an offset difference as well.

aviator31,

what do you mean by 'back spacing'?

jp_waltz,

what do you mean by 'offset'?
sorry, I am not familiar with the lingo.

thanks for the replies.

The easiest way to measure backspace is to lay the wheel face down onto the ground so the backside of the wheel is facing up. Take a straight edge and lay it diagonally across the inboard flange of the wheel. Take a tape measure and measure the distance from where the straight edge contacts the inboard flange to the hub mounting pad of the wheel. This measurement is backspace

If their 16" wheels they should fit but may require spacers. Look at "spidertrax" website. It'll get you the info needed. They may work just fine w out however. You may want to search the "tire/wheel tech" section here

thanks to everybody who replied. I was able to understand all of it.
every once in a while a 4runner makes an appearance at my local salvage yard. I just have to keep stopping in there, otherwise somebody else will get them rims.

much appreciated.
