So I wanted to get the 100's opinions on the ARB Safari vs. ARB Deluxe Bullbar....

Hit a deer this weekend while driving back from the Ranch in West Texas on I-10. Destroyed the bumper and a little out of alignment, but I am going to see if the Insurance company will replace it with an ARB :D

Wanted to see others 100's with a Safari or ARB deluxe to help me decide on which one to get.

Thanks for any help or opinions.

Go with the Deluxe ...it will make mince-meat out of the next deer :D

I do prefer the Deluxe bar due to its added protection extending around the headlights... That was actually the main selling point for me after watching my buddy plow into an Elk @ 75mph with his Tacoma

The more the better :)

I'm with sincity, the reason I got the deluxe bar is for the deer. The sahara bar has nice lines but won't do much for the fenders or headlights if you hit a deer. And besides as sin proved the deluxe is a great place for a purse when bajaing through the desert
:D

Deluxe bar gives more protection for this sort of thing, while the sahara bar looks better. Over here in AZ, I've seen several local LC's w/ sahara bars, none w/ the deluxe or traditional bull bar. Is the deluxe air-bag bar two pieces like the sahara bar in that the mount the winch attaches to bolts to the chassis rails first, then the wing bolts to the mount? Otherwise, it might be pretty challenging mounting a 1-piece bar w/ those round cylindrial things you have to insert into the chassis rails.

I would also agree the Delux will give more protection. If I hadn't gotten my Sahra for $400 I would have bought the delux, that said I really like my Sahara bar

Paint options and ARB installation

Two part question:

1. I see different paint colors for the ARB Safari in pictures but do not see an option for paint color when buying. I see Schotts cruiser does not look black from the pictures as well as some others. Are these bumpers custom painted and what is the stock color if they are? Or if they are not, how do you order a different color.

2. I need to deliver Installation intructions for the Collision shop on how to install the ARB. I have looked on websites and have found none. I need to reassure the shop guys that this is a bolt on bumper and does not need modifications. Does anyone have a copy of the instructions they could fax or email? I called Man-A-Fre and they said they did not have installation instructions because they were in the box.

Shotts's stuff is custom painted.

his bull bar...sliders...rear bumper...basically all the stuff that gets scratched and scraped on the trail...he had painted.

The Safari Bumper is nice but I prefer the ARB Bullbar!

mine was painted by the original owner of the bumper, I paid $400 for it.......so I am fine with the color.......which reminds me of fj40 bumpers ;)

ARB only sells them paint matched in Australia.

Yep....the touchups happen annually. Wish my 100 was black. :D

Does anyone know if the deluxe bull bar for an 99 ifs100 extends around the sides to protect the fenders, or only protects the front?

So I wanted to get the 100's opinions on the ARB Safari vs. ARB Deluxe Bullbar....

How about upcoming Slee front bumper, less profile than ARB yet beefy? If you can wait for few more months....

If I didn't have ARB Deluxe Bullbar in first place, I would buy Slee's...

Cheers,

I'm not sure about some of the newer models, but the Deluxe Bar on my 01 is two piece. The winch mounts to a separate frame mount and then the bar bolts to it with 4 bolts on each side.

seems like need or not of protection against hits should settle the issue.

Esthetically speaking, though, and admittedly less than fully relevant, the Deluxe looks much more like a real bumper to me...

That looks exactly like the sahara bar mounting bracket. The winchbar on my old 4runner is all one piece and doesn't slide into frame horns like the 100 bar, but instead sits on a front crossmember.
