I want to run an ARB air locker in the rear of my 60 but recently i have heard a few people saying they won't run one because the air seals are not reliable.
I had heard of a very few but that they were due to careless install.
Those of you who run them please speak up about your thoughts.

I got em front and rear. The rear is a little ify engaging sometimes, but I blame that entirely on the installation. The front work all the time, everytime. Still when the rear does engage it locks in and stays in.

If I was going to do it again, I would go with the detroit in the rear and the ARB up front. I live in Montana and DD my cruiser in the winter with the rear locked all the time and never had a scary moment. This is my main reason for thinking the ARB is unnecessary for me in the back.

Just my .02

I know of no problems with the oring sealing issue........

The air seal failure, due to a bad/improper instalations are very common .. I have dual ARB lockers almost 6 years now ..

0 problems ..

instalation is a big issue with ARB's.

O rings wear out over time.

but, if they fail, it fails as an open diff. no big deal

I have them on 2 trucks. 100% happy with them. The set on my 40 has been there for 6 years. I did have it all apart when I rebuilt the truck last year, and replaced the 0-rings prophylactically. I did have 1 bad install 6 years ago and the copper line got chewed by the ring gear. Not the locker's fault!

Excellent product.

I've had ARB's , front and rear , approx 8 years and zero problems. One thing I do is change the gear oil every year regardless of the mileage .

ARB owners manual, advice activate de ARB locker at least one time each 6 months ..

I was curious about this very thing! Thanks for the feedback on this! It's going to make the choice to go with a rear ARB easier.

Its been said before but... the people that always bag on ARB's are people that DONT run them. Just to keep it fun, I attempt an obstacle open then locked, purely to make a point, my friends cuss at me often:)

Have them in the front & rear of my 60......5 years & no issues.

The only down side to and arb set-up is price.

After testing several automatic lockers in my Tencha I found the price of the ARB locker worth each dolar .. or at least to me. Maybe if you are building a trail rig, that don't see much on road time .. an automatic locker make the task fine.

What i am hearing is exactly what i thought, install makes all the differance.
I thought about going with a rear locker however i will be running large rubber and open will be easier on axles.
