Alright guys. I am trying to find a mounting location for my arb compressor. '78 with 2f desmogged with passenger side snorkel. Thoughts... opinions. ..

Thanks
Ryan

Mine is on the right rear fender well, just behind the passenger seat. I wanted to keep it out of the engine bay heat. I know most folks say they don't have problems related to high ambient temps next to the engine, but I didn't want to tempt fate.

I'm not sure if this will work with the 2F but this is what I did for my '73 with SBC. Driver's side inner fender had these two mounting holes.

I made a mounting plate to span the holes and a small spacer to raise it slightly.

Once the compressor was mounted I just clocked it toward the center of the engine compartment for better hood clearance. No problem with the prop rod.

I routed the air lines along the steel brake lines and secured with zip ties.

Mine is down in the space between the driver side fender and firewall. Bolted onto the fender crossways to the truck and barely visible any more.

When I did it I thought it was a pretty clever use of otherwise unused space but now when I look at it all I think is "That damned thing better keep running". ( ten years problem free although saying this probably jinxed it.)

You can see the blue air lines, side louvers, and the firewall support piece to have a better idea of what this image is trying to show.

Just make a simple sheet metal bracket to mount it off of either fender, Ryan.

I've also done both of my trucks with them mounted on the fender, been there almost 10 years and have had a hammering with mud and water and have survived so far. It comes down to personal choice where you mount them, I've never been too fond of in cab mounts because of the noise and the amount of space the take up but it'll work fine if you want to install it inside

Thanks for the input guys. I have plenty of room on my drivers side fender, but the passenger side would be easier to run lines up to the pump. The passenger side would also keep the lines away from the exhaust heat.

I have mine on my passenger-side fender. Had to make a little bracket to angle the coil mount about 45 degrees to make it fit the way I wanted. Don't have a picture of it handy but I'll take one for you if you want. No snorkle on mine though.

I made a bracket that acts as a battery hold done and mounted it to that. Keeps it away from the heat and looks clean.
I will dig up a photo.
