ARB Bumper repainting/rhinoline recommendations

Hi All,

I picked up a used ARB bumper for my 4runner and needing to repaint/Rhinoline. I sanded the back down to primer (powder coat flaking off), removed rust , primed bare metal and then sprayed with Duplicolor bendliner. So far the back looks nice.....
Now, what to do with the front of bumper. I am not happy with my current primer (does not stick well) and am going with another primer. So now the question is should I repaint with canned paint, and apply SEM chip guard or should I just continue with a Rhinoliner type material.

My question is.... what have others done and what were the results.

I would prep and paint the entire thing with POR15 and one of their top coats. I am so impressed with this stuff. I just painted my axles, hubs, steering parts and new sliders. You have to follow their prep steps but the results are worth it. I used their Chassis Black topcoat which is sort of a satin sheen black.

If I ever need to redo my ARB bumper that's what I will be using.

I think you could do an entire ARB bumper, 2 coats POR15 and 2 coats chassis black, with a pint of each. It's very self levelling with a brush so no need to spray.

On my old ARB bumper I repainted with Rustoleum Satin Black (over the PC) and had very good results. Maybe combine with a high quality self-etching primer?

The problem with spray-lining a bumper is that you'll scrape it often when on the trail, and retouching might be tough (and expensive).

Rhino should go over sandblasted bare metal, not primer.

As long as you sanded the powder coat well, the liner will stick with no problems. I like the duplicolor liner my self, have sprayed several of my friends tool box lids where the powder coat had chipped off w/ no problems I'd use it ,its cheaper too!
