Well this took an abrupt turn. Fingers crossed it works out and they get the code up and working.

I was the tacomaworld member that was suggested to call and ask for the GB price after the fact (I originally posted asking if anyone knew about sales or GBs coming up). Didn't feel comfortable doing that and have been waiting for the next GB ever since. I worked in retail long enough to know that's not a cool move.
I appreciate that as it makes my job easier when i try to ask for a discount for us. I think if this fails i will finally look into plan C: which is to become a IceCo dealer myself and take care of Mud members (they do not have a warehouse on East Coast). I plan on becoming a non-profit dealer for many things this year (mainly stuff i am passionate about like RC toys), may as well make IceCO one of them (my parents have a lot of extra warehouse space).

Well they responded, and my gut tells me my theory about higher ups interfering is actually correct. I know because that’s not Lu speaking, I can tell by the wording. My guess is This has little to do with actual inventory and everything to do with protecting market prices, especially for more popular models like VLs. Unfortunately as much as Lu wants to look out for us, It looks like it is no longer in his hands.

But IceCo didn’t completely ghost us like what happened with TacomaWorld at least.

So I’m going to bump this all week to help mitigate damage for VL/JP members, as well as post the TR and VL60 prices as soon as I am given them. I really appreciate the patience and not making this more complicated than it needs to be, as it’s already a tricky situation.

@Ttn333 that would be the easiest way for sure, and definitely sounds like a warranty case. Sounds like your temp sensor is damaged and causing compressor to shut off early.

Also, please don’t be afraid to post your real feedback here. It’s what I’ve been encouraging since day 1, as it helps other members decide.

Well, the opposite is happening, the compressor doesn't stop running, hence my solar generator is drained after 8-10 hours.

I've gotten into contact with someone from Iceco and they're locating a unit for me to exchange. I must say their customer service is excellent for me so far. Will keep everyone posted. If they can get me a functioning unit, I'd call it good as these type of issues arise from time to time. The important thing is good customer service follow through.
 
I appreciate the hard work you’ve done. I’m not mad more just bummed. This will definitely prevent me from buying a fridge as I had kinda budgeted for the 25% off. Also kinda a bummer we are punished due to some impatient people. But like I said thanks for the leg work and trying to make this work out.

The inventory problem might actually be true. I've been checking portable refrigerators on amazon for some time now and their prices have been steadily increasing and inventory decreasing. Some refrigerators I had my eye on are out or low of stock and/or their prices went up considerably.
 
Sharpecat I really appreciate the work you did to try and make this happen. I’m disappointed in Iceco and unless I can figure something out might just have to start my adventure with ice no Co in a traditional cooler
 
Also want to say a thousand thanks to Sharpecat for putting this and previous buys together. Pretty not-awesome of Iceco to go this route, though. I'm probably not the only one that may have ordered pre-price increases today or gone with a competitor's sale over the weekend. I'm not sure how to proceed, will they renege on a warranty too? Bummer, but, again, emphasis on the thanks here

I don't think that's a good comparison between group buy and warranty. There's no written contract on group buys; and things can fall apart during the process from either side. Warranty is a written contract and part of what the consumer paid for. Also, they seem to be pretty responsive thus far. As I've state, will update on their follow through with my warranty exchange.

Yeah I really went back and bit my own words on that one, and regret not taking my own advice on refraining from assumptions! Glad you brought that up, and I do apologize to IceCo for that.

From talking to them some more i realize it’s actually Lu and he’s telling the truth. Just a few days ago he said it was good stock on popular models, maybe he miscounted or they went fast? We are all human and I didn’t mean to get any false hopes up.

On the grand scheme of things, this may be a blessing in disguise as i imagine we will come out with a more reliable source for quality & affordable fridges. This also made me consider ways to help out more and ways to make sure this won’t happen again.

Ideally, I won’t ever have to organize a sale for IceCo again, then find out we are “too low on stock” to continue the sale. I think the best way to ensure that is to buy out, in advance, enough to cover members. If I get too much I know of a few other forums so no worries there, but it seems the challenge will be getting enough.

I hadn’t planned on asking my parents to step in and help me with getting a few hundred units so I can try my hands at taking care of members myself, but because of today I did. Now that I know I have them behind me, it’s just a matter of time before I can personally make sure this doesn’t happen again.

Like I said, blessing in disguise; my glass is half full.

The hardest part will be getting over this GB, and for this week I will do my best to work with Lu to secure what I can, seeing as how we already gave people our word that there will be a GB discount this week.

My top priority will be people who have upcoming trips, to see if we can at least cover them now while we work something sensible out for others who have more time.

@Ttn333 I literally just edited my post because I did not mean to come across as harsh as I may have. You are certainly correct, but it's still an odd one

I feel your frustrations. I would be pissed too. Like I was this past weekend when my fridge crapped out day one of a 4 day trip. Luckily it didn't totally crapped out but rather limped along. Thank god for portable solar panels and solar generators.
 
First of all thank you Sharpecat, I appreciate your efforts.

I believe the inventory reason, supply of anything electronic is totally effed up right now. But they knew that last week and the week before so I think they could have told us before it was supposed to start.

With the TR models not on their website how does that work? Do we know if they have covers available? I have never seen any so this was the big advantage of the JP over the TR for me, plus the sturdy handles and the smaller exterior dimensions. Adding wheels doesn’t make it an upgrade in my mind.
 
@Ttn333 I don't really have a right to be pissed, I lurk here and haven't lifted a finger to make a discount happen. Your warranty experience thus far is actually pretty reassuring. The "12-month Local Warranty Service" language on the website is funky
 
Just ordered a JP50 and slider. Too bad the IH8MUD code didn’t work. Had to use VANORDIE for one order and HOBOTECH for the other order.
 
I really wish they would have decided this yesterday or last week when we still had the opportunity to purchase something else. I probably would have jumped on the dometic sale as their large cooler has a cover and slide available, but really wanted to give the VL90Pro a shot.
