Thread to discuss apps on our phone tablets that are car/overland/4x4/camping oriented

Just say want phone/tablet it is and what apps you use.

One my old windows phone I used

Ross tech lite - read the be engine codes on the Betts
OBDII doctor - codes for any OBDII vehicle
And a ported version of back country navigator pro

On my new S8+ and Android tablet I have
Torque pro II - a better OBDII program
Toyota owner's- looks up info about your car
Backcountry Navigator- love this app been using it a lot hiking
SAS survival guide, had it as a book and is loaded with tins of great info for being in the wild
Overland Bound app- great app loaded with overland info, their forums and info o n what they are doing

Always in the look out for other cool apps though

Looking forward to this, Al!

I have my FSM on my tablet, but I never keep it charged . . . trying to use only my Note 5 (Android) as my device for everything.

Looked inside @Izzyandsue 's rig last weekend and realized I need to know more :)

I have downloaded Avenza, but not set up, etc.

Topo mapping for Android and iOS. Izzy knows a lot more - that is what he uses. I have downloaded a ton of free maps, but need to figure it out.

I have a chess game and a euchre game, helps pass time or wind down before going to sleep.

Aside from that, Earthmate to pair with Delorme InReach; Torque; OSM (OpenStreetMaps - I've actually made some contributions & corrections).

Maplets has easy to use topo maps and trail maps for tons of trail systems around the country.

Torque Pro is my favorite data logging and OBD2 diagnostic tool (when paired with a cheap bluetooth OBD2 plug).

MyTrails is my favorite topo mapping program, with tracking, waypoint, elevation and many other capabilities. Load your favorite maps or download generic USGS (and other) maps through the program and go exploring!!

Track Addict is my go to for laps, never thought of using it offroad but maps your track and gives you speed an g forces statistics. Doesnt need cell tower to operate. TrackAddict for iOS & Android by HP Tuners Harry's Lap timer was an old favorite, less features

Speed Box is a simple MPH gps based, helps with the 80 with non-oem size tires so I don't go too fast.

Kind of a cool thing a lot of my hiking friends up here use.... basically turns your cell phone into a walkie when service isn't available. The voice clarity seems to be amazing when using it.

Beartooth

Looks like beartooth maybe using gotenna technology. This is exciting as more people get the gear, less times you hit the carrier network.

goTenna’s latest product, goTenna Mesh is about to ship and supports mesh networking. That means as more people in an area have the product, phone-to-phone connectivity improves for everyone. Including one super cool feature: with SMS network relay, if any phone in the mesh also is connected to the SMS mobile network then all the goTenna-enabled phones can relay regular text messages out through the SMS-capable device.
