I bought my locked 93 a few months ago for $1500. It needed axle seals, had a few oil leaks, and the front seats didn't work. After getting into it and fixing all the little stuff like new radiator, belts, hoses, PHH, tune up, front rotors, brakes, bought a set of used seats, and several other things, I already have close to $5000 in it. It only has 175,000 miles on it but if these things are let go and not maintained, it can cost a small fortune just to get them in good running condition. I would have never thought I would have spent this much just to get it road worthy but there's always a lot of stuff that you don't plan on. Just my opinion but if this one needs an engine, I don't think I would pay much more than what I paid for mine. I think I got a deal on mine but I don't know if I could get much more out of it than what I have in it. I might get $6000 from someone who could appreciate everything I've done. I picked up a used ARB winch bumper to $700, I got all three rows of seats for $175, and a set of TRD wheels for $700. I still have / want to buy a lift, spacers, tires, rear bar with swing outs, sounds system, so no telling what I will have in it when I get finished. I guess the fact is, you never get finished but I'm just thinking about the things I want. I didn't buy it to make money on it and it a good thing :)

Well I'm back from my trip and this little guy made its way back with me.

Oh snap, that is a nice machine.

Can't wait to start using it. Ordered a new cooling fan for it today.

Welcome back Ryan. Very nice!

Saw this commercial just a few minutes ago

Got a question about catalytic converters on my 93. What if I removed them? I'm just curious because it makes it a pain to find sliders that will work and I'm needing to replace one. I've taken them off older cars but I don't want to remove them if it will cause a problem.

Thanks for your help

All about emissions, which I am fairly sure you don't have. I am not sure if the CEL will come on if you pull them or not, especially on a 93. If the O2 sensors are ahead of them, then it won't matter since the computer isn't looking for an "after" reading to make adjustments to the fuel delivery. So, I guess since you don't have emissions up there, then just check where your sensors are and if they aren't behind the units, then there should be no ill effects from taking them off.

Thanks, Jynx! 02 sensor is before the cat so I think I will be fine. I'm guessing it may change the sound a little but maybe for the better. I called a local shop today and they said I would need to pull them before bringing it over for new bypass pipes. I have a buddy that has a used car lot within a .5 mile of the shop and he has a garage with a rack so I'm going to cut them off there and drive it down to the muffler shop. That will be an interesting half mile with a straight pipe :)

I need some help winning a Superwinch photo contest. So far I'm the only Toyota entered and I'm blowing all the Heeps out of the water. Help me keep the lead. Go to the link below to vote for my photo. Thanks, y'all!

I saw that commercial also a few days ago and immediately alerted the wife that there was a 40 on TV!! She didn't share my enthusiasm.

"But Honey, loving me means loving my Land Cruiser(s)"........That always works wonders for my wife! Such statement is usually followed by a nice home-cooked TV dinner.

Oh man, you have GOT to post a video of that thing running with straight pipes!! Talk about an outlaw Land Cruiser!!

I did this (cut the cat off) a long time ago on my '83 mini truck. I did it in my garage and then bought a cheapo glass pack from my FLAPS and put it on to get me to the muffler shop. It was surprisingly loud - even with a glass pack on a 22R engine.

Look what followed me home today. Another Cruiser in the stable.

Ok, what's the story and what are the plans?

Ok, what's the story and what are the plans?

It sat in a barn about half a mile from where I live now. It must have sit there for at least five years. One day it was gone and I was so pissed. Come to find out a good friend of mine said that his nephew bought it. My friend got it running for his nephew and then decided to sell it. Told my father about it and he went and bought it real quick like. He was looking for a project and started working on it. Put a Trollhole carb, DEI distrubitor on it, some expensive plug wires, new exhaust header, and a new exhaust all the way out the back.

It then sit in his barn far about a year and he asked if I wanted it. I was like hellz yeah. Went today and picked it up and drove it home. Any ideas on how to fix a smokey engine? It has sit for a long time and think it is burning a little oil. My first thought is a stuck lifter or something. As for plans, just gonna drive it and fix some of the small things. It needs some new shocks, knuckle rebuild, and fix a panel that is under the rear door. He gave me a new passenger side mirror, some extra parts, and about three repair books. When my son turns 16 in about six years, its his if he wants it. Just gonna enjoy it for now and drive it. Unlike my 60 projext that is going on three years now with out being out of the garage.
