Anyone using LC200 with a family of 5? (1 Viewer)

We have a family of 5+1 - 3 kids ages 14, 11, and 8, plus an 80# old english sheepdog. The LC is great for our family, but with a family of 5 I'd have to ask what kind of camping trips you're planning. We have a travel trailer we use and can fir 3 kids in the second row and then a cooler, clothes, and groceries one one side of the trunk with the dog on the other side. Most of our gear is in the trailer, which makes "packing" for a weekend trip really fast and easy - which in turn has encouraged us to get out 2 or 3 times a month in the summer.

If I had to squeeze in a tent, sleeping bags, lantern, kitchen setup, etc with my family on a regular basis I'd seriously look at a Sequoia, particularly if you're not planning to mod your LC and get way off the grid. I have a cargo box I used to use with our Acura MDX and it's acceptable but overall was always kind of a PITA to load/unload, and an extra foot of cargo space would be incredibly useful. That said we went with the LC in part because I didn't want an even longer vehicle (if the Sequoia was still the same length as the last gen I might be on the Sequoia forum now...)

This is pretty much how I do it. I have a turtleback expedition trailer with a RTT, ARB fridge, 40 gal water tank, water heater, solar, awning, full kitchen, etc.... Its a grab and go.

My wife and I have 3 girls (6, 5, 2) and are expecting a baby boy in January. The second row works fine for 2 car seats and a booster. We'll be moving the two car seats for the girls into the 3rd row and then keep the oldest and baby in the second row.

We also do a lot of overloading and travel here in southern Africa. Given RTT can be a pain with young kids and night time bathroom needs, we opted for an off-road caravan. We have a Bush Lapa Miskruier, and that thing goes anywhere. Nice thing about off-road caravans/trailers is that you can leave them at a campsite and drive off without folding up camp/RTT.

Normal family travel in the bush.

Some friends came out to visit which is why there is a tent

Family of 6 here, 4 boys ages 10, 7, 5 & 3. I drive a 4 runner and the wife drives the LC. We also tow a patriot camper for our trips. The wife tried everything under the sun and loves her LC. I will say the 4 runner has better cup holders and interior storage nooks, but again the LC wins over all.

If you get a roof rack, you will have no issues packing for trips. We bought the full front runner rook rack and it works great for what we need. Don't get me wrong, there has been more than on occasion where we complained about the lack of room but that fades quickly.

Timely post as my wife (and mother of our 4 boys - cheers to you!) test drove the 200 series today

We started off with a 2020 LX 570 with a window sticker of $101k

That’s her LX470 on the left

Then over to Toyota to drive the LC @ $83k

Red arrow at her LX

But in the process this caught her eye @ $44k
Look familiar? 😎

Told her it wasn’t big enough - she said that we could take the soon to be mine LX470 if needed (her current ride).

She likes the truck like handling and ease of parking. I haven’t pulled the trigger but you know what they say: happy wife happy life

@duvinclunk

Just get Whatever year is 40k if that is what you want to spend.

Hey boss, I've got a family of 6.
Me 33yrs, wife 30yrs, 5yrs old, 16yrs old, 3yrs old, and a 70yrs old.

I've had a 2016 4Runner and now I switched to a 2016 LC. Main reason was space! The 4runner was getting too cramped. The LC rides awesome and ws just more spacious and enjoyable on longer road trips. Plus its great for the daily driving minus the horrific gas mileage.

Family of 6 here. No issues with the 200. Three across the 2nd row and one in the back. We keep one of the 3rd row seats folded up.

Nope not my Seqouia, ours is bone stock. Thanks for the kind words about my LC200! Welcome to the forum.

In order, the first is Bo-Hunter on Tundras.com, the second is helloshoebox, and the last Sequndra build is steelman_built. Look through their profiles for more pictures and info on their builds. ...

Sorry to OP for turning this into a Sequoia propaganda post : )

Wow, Timjax, thank you so much for taking the time to list resources and for providing so much useful information

You have left me no choice but to begin planning my build!

@ $44k for the SR5, you'd be able to get a barely used 2019 TRD-Pro as I did. A few month back I bought a 2019 Voodoo blue TRD-Pro out of FL and had it shipped to me in NC. I think out the door with shipping I was just over $45k.

The wife currently drives her 2016 Onyx Blue LC. We found it, used, out of Colorado and had it shipped to NC as well. I think we paid $62 or so. It had 33k miles when we got it.

Ive actually never purchased a new car in my life, neither have my parents .. always pre/owned - so I like that you saved tons of $ on preowned

And trust me, I hear ya say on the PRO - Nothing would make me happier than to have the rear locker but only the SR5 premium has 3rd row seats.

The $44k includes lift, tires, trd wheels, front skid, 7yr 100k miles warranty @2.75%

Im doing my best to negotiate (not with the dealer - but instead my wife 😂 !!!)
