I was trying to decide on software for a Toughbook in my rig and the Delorme looked good but the price surprised me. I can not tell (I read a lot from many different software packages in one day) but it appears the software comes with maps and it can import/export maps. Is anyone using it that can provide some feedback? Thanks in advance.

Been using 7.0 for three years now, and the only complaint I have is that it's hard to lay in a route.
I like it otherwise.

i have topo 8, got it last month from amazon for 39$... just sayin ;) link

i like many things about it coming from a garmin-mapsource background. it IS a little different, and takes some getting used to. especially if you are into micromanagement of your data... imho.

no complaints. its on my netbook waiting for the completion of my jottomonstrosity. right now i use a garmin 60cx with topos loaded.

coverage of areas i have been in (looking after the fact) has been comparable to garmin topo usa in the areas i have been in, if not a little better. fwiw.

So does it come with maps and can you import your own maps? :meh:

it IS maps!? i'm confused.

for mapsource i have totally made my own maps and gotten them into the software and my garmin. i know in delorme you can add roads (and convert gps tracks into them). i haven't tried a complete map. you can pay a fee and download all the extra stuff they have you might want (Aerial, USGS, etc) which sounds cool, but i haven't tried it.
