If they make a D load tire in your size, that is prefered. An E load tire will ride stiffer, and have harder compounding (less traction in cold and rain). You will never exceed the maximum load of a D rated tire (which would require 50psi).

I have been emailing back and forth with Michelin and it appears that they have reduced their "off-road" marketing with the AT2. Even on the grid it indicates that the left side is more "Sport/Handling" and not "Off-road" and the rep indicated that yes, it is more of a sporty tire than the old AT.
There can only be one reason for this - the purchase of BFG and the dominant All Terrain tire. Now I am torn again, even if Discount tire gives me my money back for the BFG's, I do not think I would want to spend more on the AT2 and I am very pleased with the off-road ability that the BFG gives me and putting up with the tossing of the rocks is minor.

Its all about how you use them and the ride your looking for. I think the AT2 will be perfect for me. Street tire with better snow traction then the LTX/MS. I don;t want a hard ride and I am not going across any fields. I like the added quality of the Michelin tires over the BFG's. My only problem is that my original equipment Michelin LTX/MS's with 60K miles on them still have 7/32's of tread remaining all around. At this rate it could be awhile before I need new tires.

Anyone?

The AT2 is probably going to have less snow traction than the LTX/MS. They are clearly targeted at heavier vehicles (1 ton pickups) with their E load range. As a result they will have a much harder compound that will not do as well when cold.

As far as Michelin v BFG, BFG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Michelin. Michelin has clearly targeted the BFG line as its off road line.

If you want a tire that offers good road performance and superior snow performance, take a look at the Nokian Vatiiva A/T.

The AT2 comes in load range C which would be just right for the LX/LC.

Didn't see them in the size charts, but yes a C or D will be perfect, C will ride much better.

They are getting pretty terrible reviews on tirerack. That could be because they are getting improper load rated tires. E instead of D or C? I don't know. Biggest complaints are soft sidewall and they tend to float.

ltx at2's are running fine on my rig. just had them put on 3-4 months ago. 50lb psi and it rides surprisingly smooth.

I just saw them at the tire shop. I would say they are definitely more robust/aggressive looking then the last model, but not up to the BFG, NTG, Yoko, Goodyear, etc. level of all terrains.

I put them on my 2008 in the P275 65 r18 size (P metric is close to load range C) these have 2/32" less tread than the same size in the LT model (load range E)

Definately more NVH than the OEM Dunlops, but they suit my needs for now, and thespare fit fine with my receiver hitch.

So far so good with 1,000 miles.

I want to buy a set but I can't seem to wearout the LTX/MS that came on it. 45K miles and they are not even close to half worn. I think these will last until 80K+ miles with normal care and rotation.

If you want them then buy them. you seem to have your mind set on them no matter what anyone says. i would buy used tires before i bought those at2. they have no features that i would want. I think they are over priced junk
